Job Description: Pharmacy Dispenser

Location: Milton Keynes
Hours: Full-time (Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 17:00) PERM
Reports to: Pharmacy Lead

Our client is an expanding and innovative distance-selling pharmacy, committed to providing high-quality pharmaceutical care to patients and care homes across England. With a strong focus on care home medication management and electronic Medication Administration Record (eMAR) systems, they deliver safe, accurate, and efficient prescription services.

They are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Dispenser who is passionate about enhancing patient care through technology and thrives in a growing business environment.

About the Role

This position is ideal for a Qualified Pharmacy Dispenser with experience in care home services, eMAR systems, and MAR charts. The role involves ensuring the accurate dispensing of medications while upholding high regulatory standards.

The successful candidate will also work with advanced pharmacy systems to support efficient dispensing and compliance, including:

Pharmacy Dispensing Systems: EMIS / Proscript

eMAR Systems: Access eMAR, Atlas eMAR, Medihub eMAR

Key Responsibilities

Prescription Dispensing & Accuracy

Accurately dispense and label prescription medications under the supervision of the pharmacist.

Ensure all prescriptions comply with legal, ethical, and procedural requirements.

Handle controlled drugs and special-order medicines in accordance with strict regulatory guidelines.

Assist in managing repeat prescriptions and batch dispensing for care homes.

Care Home & eMAR System Support

Collaborate with care home teams to manage MAR charts and eMAR systems, ensuring medication records are accurate and compliant.

Provide training and support to care home staff on using Access eMAR, Atlas eMAR, and Medihub eMAR for medication administration.

Implement best practices for medication safety within care homes.

Stock & Inventory Management

Assist in ordering, receiving, and recording stock levels to maintain an efficient dispensing workflow.

Monitor expiry dates, storage conditions, and controlled drug documentation to ensure compliance.

Align stock management with eMAR systems and care home medication schedules.

Patient & Customer Support

Provide advice and guidance on medication-related queries via phone, email, and digital platforms.

Assist with care home medication audits and compliance checks.

Maintain a professional and supportive approach when liaising with care homes, nurses, and healthcare professionals.

Regulatory Compliance & Record-Keeping

Ensure full compliance with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) regulations.

Maintain accurate patient medication records, prescriptions, and dispensing documentation.

Uphold GDPR compliance and patient confidentiality.

Assist with pharmacy audits and inspections, ensuring adherence to NHS and GPhC standards.

Pharmacy Systems & Technology

Use EMIS / Proscript for prescription processing and stock management.

Operate Access eMAR, Atlas eMAR, and Medihub eMAR to facilitate seamless communication with care homes.

Contribute to process improvements by implementing new pharmacy technology solutions.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

Pharmacy Dispenser Qualification – NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent).

Experience in Care Home Medication Management – Familiarity with MAR charts, eMAR systems, and batch dispensing.

Strong IT Skills – Confident in using EMIS / Proscript, Access eMAR, Atlas eMAR, and Medihub eMAR.

Excellent Communication Skills – Able to liaise effectively with care homes, nurses, and healthcare professionals.

Attention to Detail – Capable of handling prescriptions and stock management with accuracy.

Highly Organised & Proactive – Able to prioritise tasks, manage workloads efficiently, and maintain compliance standards.

Desirable:

Previous experience in a distance-selling pharmacy.

Experience with NHS prescription services and online prescription management.

Knowledge of e-commerce and logistics systems for medication delivery.

Additional healthcare-related qualifications.
