Consultant Psychiatrist - East Core Team We are reallypleased to be offering this exciting full-time (10 PA) Consultantpost in the Haringey East Core Team. This post has become availabledue to service redesign and financial investment as a result of thecommunity transformation work. We welcome applications fromcandidates who wish to work part-time flexibly. Please feel free tomake contact to discuss the post. At North London NHS FoundationTrust we provide integrated mental health services to the people ofNorth Central London, as well as some services regionally andnationally. We employ almost 6000 staff, which makes us one of thelargest employers in our area. We provide our services to children,adults, and older people from over 20 sites. We support people toovercome the hurdles they face with their health and wellbeing. Wesupport them to get back into the community and to live asindependently as they can. We aim to give people the skills theyneed to look after themselves with our support in the community.When they need a higher level of care, we provide that on ourwards. The wards are found at Edgware Community Hospital; BarnetGeneral Hospital (Springwell Centre); Chase Farm Hospital; and St.Ann's Hospital, Highgate East and Highgate West. Main duties of thejob The post holder will be expected to provide joint clinicalleadership for the East Core Team, working alongside 2 otherConsultants. The post-holder will be expected to: 1. Contribute tothe assessment of newly referred cases and formulate appropriatetreatment plans in collaboration with colleagues in otherdisciplines. 2. Conclude medical reviews for those on the caseloadincluding monitoring of patient mental, physical, and psychologicalwellbeing. 3. Manage community emergencies including home visitsfor those on the caseload. 4. Act as Responsible Clinician (RC) forthe clients of the East Locality Team treated on a CommunityTreatment Order (CTO, S17A MHA). 5. Comply with all legalobligations covering clinical practice e.g. Mental Health Act andCode of Practice. 6. Complete relevant paperwork, includingmaintaining the electronic record and participating in routineoutcome monitoring of clinical work. 7. Supervise and facilitatelearning to medical staff and other professionals in all aspects ofpsychiatric care. 8. Participate in the North Sector ConsultantPsychiatrist on-call rota (1:32). 9. Participate in the weekly teammeeting and undertake other duties that contribute to the goodfunctioning of the clinical team. 10. Provide clinical andprofessional leadership within the post and take part in managementactivities and governance processes related to the post or thewider service. Person Specification Qualifications - Qualificationsor higher degree in medical education, clinical research ormanagement. - Open Dialogue Training. - Full Registration with theGeneral Medical Council (GMC) with a current licence to practisefrom the GMC at intended start date. - Included on the GMCSpecialist Register OR within six months. - Approved clinicianstatus OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment. - Section12 Approved or able to achieve within three months of appointment.- In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditionson practice. Transport - Holds and will use valid UK drivinglicence OR provides evidence of proposed alternative. Clinicalskills, knowledge and experience - Excellent knowledge inspecialty. - Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-socialperspective and wide medical knowledge. - Excellent oral andwritten communication skills in English. - Able to manage clinicalcomplexity and uncertainty. - Makes decisions based on evidence andexperience including the contribution of others. - Able to meetduties under MHA and MCA. - Wide range of specialist andsub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparableservice. Academic Skills and lifelong learning - Able to deliverundergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training. - Ability towork in and lead team. - Demonstrate commitment to sharedleadership and collaborative working to deliver improvement. -Participated in research or service evaluation. - Able to use andappraise clinical evidence. - Has actively participated in clinicalaudit and quality improvement programmes. - Able to plan anddeliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and trainingrelevant to this post. - Reflect on purpose of CPD undertaken. -Experienced in clinical research and/or service evaluation. -Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit and serviceimprovement. Information Technology Experience & Skills - Basiccomputer skills, including ability to use e-mail and Internet. -Experience in data gathering and management.
