Scope

Ocean (Export/Import)Team Leader responsibility Dartford based. Back up to Department Manager and providing support when requested.


Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to clients and overseas agents by ensuring timely and professional communication.
  • Coordinate and manage end-to-end ocean shipments
  • Work closely with team members and other departments to maintain the highest level of operational performance.
  • Resolve accounting issues and queries as directed by management, ensuring they are handled promptly and effectively.
  • Identify and raise potential issues to your direct manager that could impact timelines, service quality, or compliance.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with internal stakeholders, clients, and global partners.
  • Provide prompt and effective responses to all internal and external enquiries.
  • Assist in the recruitment and interviewing of new team members when required.
  • Work alongside management to identify and implement process improvements
  • Manage and resolve escalations from customers and internal teams in a proactive, solution-focused manner.
  • Support and guide the team to quickly resolve internal/external challenges that arise during daily operations.
  • Train and mentor new team members to ensure a smooth onboarding process and consistent performance when required.
  • Carry out any additional duties as required by management to support department goals.


Authorities

  • Authorised to perform responsibilities autonomously, using initiative to escalate any material impact to the business, as appropriate.
  • Identify any opportunities for improvements in overall service quality and business safety.


Qualifications / Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years of extensive Ocean Export experience
  • Minimum of 2 years Supervisory role within the freight forwarding industry would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of various local and International shipping and freight forwarding practices.
  • Combined excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong ability to analyse situations and to make good decisions based on available information.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing policies and procedures.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office
