Job Description

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role.

Working hours are Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant within Clinical Genetics, you will assist in the accession, handling and sample processing of samples received, including Non-invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT), referrals and DNA extraction.

  • Receipt and handling of samples, ensure that samples are labelled accurately
  • Perform downstream processing of clinical samples
  • Ensure that all work is done in compliance with ISO 15189 requirements
  • Follow standard operating procedure (SOPs) and instructions
  • Operate liquid handling robots, PCR thermal cyclers and NGS machines
  • Keeping laboratory records up to date

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level in a related field
  • Understanding of general molecular biology techniques (including PCR, RNA/DNA extraction, quantification)
  • Knowledge of genetics and genomics
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational, multi-tasking and time management skills
  • Committed to customer care
