Our Client currently have an opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join their Platinum Group Metal Services Business in Royston.

Working within the Maintenance team and reporting to the Maintenance Lead, the purpose of the role is to perform tasks necessary to ensure safe, compliant and safe operation of all primary and auxiliary production equipment and utility support systems supporting operations at Royston. The majority of time will be spent on mechanical tasks, including repairs, calibration and testing, but will also include minor project work and assisting in additional maintenance duties where priorities require.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide a skilled execution of Planned, Reactive and Corrective Mechanical maintenance activities to ensure the ongoing reliability of equipment across the plant.
  • Identify and carry out occasional plant modification work to help enhance plant safety and improve efficiency.
  • Cooperate and collaborate with other team members to continually drive our proactive engineering programme, participate in failure investigations, identify and report back reliability issues within the plant.
  • Support the projects team at initial design stages to offer advice on the correct selection of plant and equipment to ensure improved levels of future plant reliability and maintainability.
  • Interpret technical drawings for planning, executing and specifying material to support job duties.
  • Ensure that all relevant departmental administrative requirements such as: timesheets, work orders (WMO), stores purchase requisitions, etc are completed to ensure concise work history and financial accountability.
  • Carry out statutory and other testing onsite to help maintain both ISO 9001 & ISO14001 accreditation.
  • Issue permits and control of contractors.
  • Due to the nature of this role applicants must be non-smokers and have been free from nicotine products for at least 3 months.

    Job purpose
    The successful candidate will join an established Mechanical Team within our top tier COMAH site, this role requires an experienced Industrial Mechanically biased maintenance technician who is able to demonstrate and execute a wide range of practical Mechanical skills, ranging from basic workshop skills including fabrication of pipework, steelwork, and plastics to working out on plant in a methodical & logical manner such that reactive faults can be identified and repaired safely, alongside working proactively by working on Planned maintenance & Routines scheduled by our Maintenance planner.
    You will report directly to the maintenance Lead, this is a wide-ranging role which experience in Chemicals or large manufacturing would be advantageous, alongside a willingness to question and learn will be essential. This will involve good communication, often across multiple disciplines to deliver customer requirements efficiently and effectively. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills and take a positive, proactive and enthusiastic approach to delivering to tight deadlines
