An established mechanical building services contractor is seeking a Senior Mechanical Estimator to join its growing commercial team. This award-winning contractor operates across multiple sectors and is renowned for delivering high-quality, technically complex projects in Ireland and throughout mainland Europe.

With a strong portfolio across key sectors including data centres, pharmaceuticals, power generation, commercial offices, healthcare, and industrial, the company is committed to innovation, sustainability, and exceeding client expectations. This role offers the opportunity to join a highly skilled team in a company focused on continual growth and technical excellence.Main Responsibilities:

Lead and support the development of the estimating department and associated systems.

Maintain and update the Work In Progress (WIP) list.

Manage the full tendering process for selected projects.

Review tender documentation and distribute responsibilities across the estimating team.

Oversee project measurement and costing, ensuring accuracy against schematics and specifications.

Source and negotiate with suppliers to obtain competitive quotations.

Conduct detailed take-offs and apply industry-standard rates and norms.

Ensure all tender requirements are captured and accurately costed.

Compile preliminary and overhead costings for tenders.

Identify value engineering opportunities and integrate into proposals.

Prepare and populate all tender documentation (e.g., BOQs, pricing schedules, forms).

Liaise with external estimators and attend site visits and client meetings

Lead handovers to project operations teams post-award.

Contribute to improving estimating accuracy by reviewing CVRs and job performance.

Support live project teams with cost forecasting, budgeting, and measurement.

Advise on and manage contract variations, progress claims, and final accounts.

Attend project start meetings and support subcontractor management.

Compile commercial reports and assist in risk and value management.

Ensure all project documentation is kept current and compliant with internal systems.

Conduct site visits to monitor project progress and performance.

Requirements:

Previous experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the building services or M&E sector.

Degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline, or Plumbing trade qualified.

Proven track record in estimating HVAC, process piping, and mechanical services systems.

Strong understanding of construction drawings, technical documentation, and take-offs.

Highly organised with excellent commercial and analytical acumen.

Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., CostX, Trimble) and Microsoft Office.

Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.

Able to work independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team.

Willingness to travel for site assessments and project handovers.
