Opportunity
Owing to continued growth, NIRAS seeks to recruit an experienced and dynamic, Mechanical Construction Supervisor / Coordinator, keen to advance in their career who will join our Construction Project Team on site in the Frankfurt region of Germany on a fast paced life sciences construction project.
Responsibilities

  • The candidate should have significant previous experience of Mechanical Construction Supervision/ Coordination, preferably on Pharmaceutical / Bio Pharmaceutical projects.
  • The ideal candidate will hold 5 to 10 plus years Pharma Construction projects experience and be fully proficient in the use of Word, PowerPoint, Project, advanced Excel and Access
  • In line with the job outlined above, the following are typically the key tasks expected of the role:

  • * Assess project requirements, break projects into tasks, and work with Project Managers to determine scope of work while overseeing budget and staffing.
    * Write SOWs for mechanical designs based on preliminary reviews and client meetings.
    * Prepare engineering studies and schematic designs for new mechanical systems and analyze operation of existing systems.
    * Work with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to building codes is required.
    * Assign and review work of the project design teams.
    * Ability to perform target cost design work when projects have initial target construction costs.
    * Coordinate all aspects of project document completion within NIRAS and externally with client, and other relevant design professionals.
    * Ability to develop mechanical discipline-specific construction budgets based on project scope.

Qualification, Experience & Requirements

  • Must be fluent in written and verbal German.
  • Degree/ Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5-10 years engineering experience in mechanical design, construction of pharmaceutical build/installation projects.
  • Experienced in coordinating contractor activities to monitor and track work ensuring delivery of the schedule in a safe and structured manner.
  • Working knowledge of piping analysis and modelling software.
  • Proficiency with reading and interpreting standard construction documents, drawings, schedules, contracts and proposals.
  • Working collaboratively with the Craft, Operations and Facility Users.
  • Programming works schedule and monitoring building progress and compliance with regs and costs.
  • Participate in Constructability and Safety reviews.
  • Attending morning coordination meetings with Operations.
  • Review project scope, budget and schedule.
  • Ability to manage workload of multiple projects of varying complexity.
  • Experience with construction, startup, and turnover of facilities systems through commissioning and handover would be an advantage.
  • All aspects of Health & Safety on site.
