Our client are looking for a change manager who builds a vision of products based on experience, best market practices, as well as research and market trends.


Are you a dynamic leader ready to transform a key manufacturing site into a hub of innovation and profitability? As the Managing Director of this Bradford site, you will play a pivotal role in steering the strategic direction, operational excellence, and cultural transformation of a facility specialising in pharmaceutical inserts and folding cartons. With annual revenues exceeding £30 million and a team of 240 talented professionals, this role offers the opportunity to lead with purpose, make impactful changes, and drive sustainable success.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

-Craft and execute strategic plans that align with the Healthcare & Pharma businesses objectives, ensuring the site's operations thrive in a competitive market.

-Collaborate with the sales team to attract customers and achieve ambitious budget targets while maintaining a strong focus on long-term sustainable profitability.


Operational Excellence

-Oversee all site operations, establishing performance metrics to deliver exceptional product quality and on-time, in-full (OTIF) delivery.

-Lead efforts to improve machinery performance, leveraging recent investments like the Londepress digital printing press to optimize capacity and efficiency.

-Drive a culture of continuous improvement by implementing lean and CI tools, ensuring best practices are embedded across all functions.


Financial Oversight

-Take full accountability for the site’s P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.

-Identify cost-saving opportunities while managing unit costs and productivity measures.


Team Leadership and Development

-Inspire and develop a high-performing management team of eight direct reports and two dotted-line reports.

-Champion employee engagement and upskilling, creating an environment where continuous learning and accountability are at the forefront.


Customer and Quality Focus

-Foster a culture of quality, reducing waste and eradicating non-value-added activities.

-Engage in customer and commercial discussions to ensure pricing optimization and maximize gross margins.


Innovation and Sustainability

-Spearhead the transformation of the site to achieve sustainable profitability, aligning operations with the commitment to environmental responsibility.

-Develop and implement annual capex plans that enhance reliability, safety, and productivity.


Scope of Responsibility

Health, Safety, and Environment:Maintain rigorous HSE standards, ensuring legal compliance and a zero-accident workplace culture.

Production Performance:Optimize production processes to improve OTIF performance and meet customer expectations.

Supply Chain Excellence:Strengthen supply chain capabilities to deliver best-in-class lead times and support business growth.

Talent Development:Build succession plans and foster a collaborative, motivated workforce.


Experience & Expertise:

-Proven track record in folding carton or pharmaceutical packaging; experience in paper-based manufacturing will also be considered.

-Strong B2B manufacturing background, with a preference for candidates familiar with labels or cartons within the pharmaceutical space.

-Demonstrated success in turnaround scenarios, with the ability to drive cultural and operational transformations.
