We are currently recruiting for a Sales Manager vacancy! The Sales Manager is responsible for the sale of consumable products in the Life Sciences industry (pharmaceutical, biotech, vaccine, cell gene, medical device, nutraceutical and related industries) within an assigned business or geographic region. Working with sales leadership to develop strategies for achieving commercial targets, and directly managing and coordinating activities of their team to meet planned goals and objectives. As a working manager, the role has individual direct sales responsibilities for an assigned territory.

What You Will Do

Business Management: 30%

  • Facilitates the development and expansion of the region’s business by initiating and nurturing key relationships and associations in the Life Sciences industry.
  • Monitors and reports market trends to appropriate internal partners and implements region strategies to capitalize on all opportunities.
  • Monitors processes and work flow to ensure business objectives are met.
  • Partners with sales leadership to develop and manage the region’s business.
  • Identify top prospects, projects and opportunities.
  • Comply with the spirit and letter of laws, government regulations and company policies.
  • Demonstrates and reinforces compliance with company policies and programs.
  • Continuously identifying means to improve productivity and drive continuous improvement in the sales process.

Duties cont.

Achieving Financial Objectives: 20%

  • Develops and clearly communicates business strategies.
  • Drives activities to achieve financial targets for the region and/or assigned territories.
  • Participates in setting pricing strategies using established policy guidelines.
  • Manages region business within budgeted expense levels.
  • Manages time, travel, and sales activities to maximize effectiveness.

Customer Focus: 25%

  • Ensures customer needs are communicated and interpreted into all facets of organizational structure.
  • Interacts regularly with other functional leaders to ensure process improvements are implemented effectively.
  • Monitor and prioritize activities to maximize your team’s ability to respond to Customers without loss of quality.
  • Assures that all direct reports are trained properly and can deliver an integrated, customer solution presentation.

Employee Development 25%

  • Recruits, interviews, and selects individuals matching the profile of the respective STERIS job description.
  • Creates an environment which encourages self development, creative thinking and problem solving.
  • Coaches the team to leverage their role to ensure positive team selling relationships
  • Conducts regular check-ins with each report to review objectives, progress, successes and development opportunities.
  • Identifies the training and educational needs of their region; assures information, resources, education, support are provided to the team through various support functions.
  • Articulates and positions the strategic relevance of corporate activities and requirements.
  • Translates general objectives and goals into understandable and specific work actions.
  • Continually analyzes and revises critical success factors for the business.
  • Uses all available tools and techniques to develop and communicate vision.

What is needed to be successful

  • Bachelors’ degree preferably in Chemistry, Biology, Science or Engineering required.
  • Demonstratable successful sales experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences market with responsibility for multiple products.
  • Demonstratable successful managerial experience
  • Significant sales support skills and experience including dealing with complex multifaceted sales situations effectively utilizing a team approach – strong leadership, matrix organization management, interpersonal, communication, organization and presentation skills
