The Manager for Environment, Health, Safety and Security (EHSS) is accountable to support the maintenance, development and growth of the site’s EHSS culture and performance at  KSP.

In addition, the role will identify and report to the senior EHSS manager any gaps, concerns or deviations away from legislative compliance and assist in the development and the execution of plans to close any gaps.

The role has an active part in supporting the defining of training needs and the activities on site to enhance the EHSS culture and promote a shared culture of best practices.

Actively promote the site’s sustainability initiatives and collaborate with other site functions to achieve a better environmental footprint (energy, waste and water) aligned with Jazz Corporate’s ESG goals.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Be accountable for the ongoing development of the site’s risk management strategy.

  • Contribute to the management and maintenance of the site’s Environmental Permit.

  • Support the business and the EHSS senior manager in developing programs that align with Jazz Corporate or Technical Operations Group ESG Strategy.

  • Liaise with the site’s regulators (EA, HO, HSE) on all aspects compliance when required.

  • Work closely with the site’s leadership team in supporting audits and continuous improvement plans.

  • Provide technical support to departments with environmental and sustainability procedures and Environmental Risk Assessments.

  • Lead KSP’s Sustainability initiatives as required including involvement in CSSI and CSRD reporting and projects like energy efficiency and resource conservation.

  • Lead programs that align with KSP’s drive toward ISO 14001/45001 certification.

  • Act as one of the site’s  EHSS "Competent Person" and provide technical advice.

  • Lead incident and near miss investigations.

  • Develop leading and lagging KPIs for EHSS to support the reporting of performance, tracking actions and development of improvement programs

  • Management of all Occupational Health monitoring and Hygiene strategy.

  • Attends key meetings to represent EHSS.

  • Support management of the Crisis Management Plan, evacuation procedures and co-ordinates the roles of the incident controller, fire marshals and first aiders.

  • Support departments with the assessment and classification of waste streams.

  • Support management of KSP destruction process for material and product.

  • Contribute to the management of producer obligation packaging data as required by Producer Responsibility Obligations (Waste Packaging) Regulations 2007 (PRORes).

  • Working with departments to ensure compliance with relevant statutory requirements.

  • Writing and supporting the management of all relevant EHSS procedures.

  • Responsible for maintaining cGxP and EHS knowledge applicable to the job.

  • Operate in accordance with any professional code(s) of ethics and the Jazz Corporate values.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • At least 5 years’ experience in similar roles in highly regulated industries sector e.g. Manufacturing and/or Pharma and/or Chemical industries.

  • Broad knowledge and strong evidence of application of UK Environmental and Health and Safety legislation associated with the above industries.

  • Good understanding of risks and hazards associated with COMAH, DSEAR, COSHH

  • Able to competently lead/contribute to Fire, DSEAR, COSHH, MH risk assessments etc.

  • Excellent prioritisation, coordination, organizational, communication and teamworking skills

  • Experience of leading on site wide environmental, health and safety initiatives.

  • Ability to communicate information clearly and accurately both verbally and in written form.

  • Ability to introduce and implement effective EHSS systems to manage risks and hazards.

  • Ability to maintain a visible presence at KSP to promote EHSS & Sustainability.

  • Achieves high quality standards and accuracy of work completed.

  • Easily and flexibly adapts to new situations, new ways of working and new ideas.

  • Provide technical support and advice on EHS matters.

  • Have the ability to proactively address and resolve problems arising from EHS issues

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Package.

  • Strong communication and teamworking skills.

Required/Preferred Education

  • (R) NEBOSH Level 6 National Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety or NVQ 5/6 Occupational Health and Safety (working or willing to work towards either)

  • (R) Membership ISOH as a minimum level

  • (R) NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety

  • (P) Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA)

  • (P) IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management

  • (P) ISO Auditor trained
