Locum Consultant Psychiatrist Eating Disorders (ForestLane) Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust Wehave an exciting opportunity in CAMHS which is part of theSpecialist services strategic business unit in HPFT. The CYPMHEating Disorders (ED) Intensive Day and Virtual Service wasdeveloped as a 12 months pilot to deliver intensive treatmentthrough appointments and sessions both in a day patient unit andvirtually to young people and their families across the East ofEngland region. The Intensive Day Service will: 1. Provide a fullstructured programme that the young person will attend in person atthe service base. 2. The service will be structured in acontaining, supportive environment, with a clear programme andclose links between the service and the family. The virtual pathwayin the service will: 1. Provide a full structured programme thatthe person will attend online from their home. 2. Deliver the sameelements as the day service; however, they are not delivered at thesame time/during the same sessions. We welcome those wishing towork full time! Main duties of the job 1. To manage, appraise andgive professional supervision to junior medical staff as agreed byconsultant colleagues and the medical director and in accordancewith the Trust's personnel policies and procedures. This mayinclude assessing competences under the Modernising Medical Careersframework. 2. To ensure that junior medical staff working with thepost holder operate within the parameters of the New Deal and areWorking Time Directive compliant. 3. To undertake theadministrative duties associated with the care of patients. 4. Torecord clinical activity accurately and comprehensively and submitthis promptly to the Information Department. 5. To participate inservice and business planning activity for the locality and, asappropriate, for the whole mental health service. 6. To participatein annual appraisal for consultants. Full overview of the role isin the JD. About us It is envisaged that the post holder will work4 programmed activities over 3 days. Following appointment therewill be a meeting at no later than three months with the clinicalmanager to review and revise the job plan and objectives of thepost holder. The overall split of the programmed activities is 7.5to be devoted to direct clinical care and 2.5 to supportingprofessional activities (as per the Royal College of Psychiatristsrecommendation). The timetable is indicative only. A formal jobplan will be agreed between the post holder and associate medicaldirector or clinical manager three months after commencing the postand at least annually thereafter. Job responsibilities 1. To attendand participate in the academic programme of the Trust and the teamincluding lectures and seminars as part of the internal CPDprogramme. 2. To maintain professional registration with theGeneral Medical Council, Mental Health Act Section 12(2) approval,and to abide by professional codes of conduct. 3. To participateannually in a job plan review with the clinical manager, which willinclude consultation with a relevant manager in order to ensurethat the post is developed to take into account changes in serviceconfiguration and delivery associated with modernisation. To workwith local managers and professional colleagues in ensuring theefficient running of services and share with consultant colleaguesin the medical contribution to management. Person SpecificationQualifications - MB BS or equivalent medical qualification. -MRCPsych OR MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College ofPsychiatrists. - Qualification or higher degree in medicaleducation, clinical research or management. - Relevant higherdegree, e.g. MD, PhD, MSc or other additional clinicalqualifications. - Fully registered with the GMC with a licence topractise at the time of appointment. - CCT in Psychiatry; ORInclusion on the GMC Specialist Register in psychiatry; OR withinsix months of achieving CCT/CESR at the time of interview. -Section 12/Approved clinician approval. - In good standing with GMCwith respect to warning and conditions on practice. Clinicalskills, Knowledge & Experience - Experience of the full rangeof clinical responsibilities expected of a consultant inCAMHS/Eating disorder psychiatry. - Experience of closecollaborative working with social care and other agencies. -Experience of working with service users who have complex needswithin Eating disorders. - Excellent clinical skills usingbio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge. -Excellent oral and written communication skills. - Able to manageclinical complexity and uncertainty. - Makes decisions based onevidence and experience including the contribution of others. -Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant topost within NHS or comparable service. - Excellent degree ofmedical knowledge in relation to CAMHS Eating disorders. Academicskills lifelong learning - Able to deliver undergraduate orpostgraduate teaching and training. - Participated in continuousprofessional development. - Participated in research or serviceevaluation. - Able to use and appraise clinical evidence. - Hasactively participated in clinical audit. - Holds a full validdriving license and access to a car (Unless you have a disabilityas defined by the Disability Discrimination Act 1995). - Able toplan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching andtraining relevant to this post. - Reflected on purpose of CPDundertaken. - Experienced in clinical research and/or serviceevaluation. - Evidence of achievement in education, research, auditand service improvement: awards, prizes, presentations andpublications. - Has led clinical audits leading to service change.- Experience of organising and overseeing psychotherapy trainingprogram for psychiatry trainees.
