Role Overview

We are currently looking for a Laboratory Manager to join a leading Environmental company based in the Cambridge area. As the Laboratory Manager you will be responsible for leadership and line management of staff across the Chemistry Laboratory.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Your duties as the Laboratory Manager will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. As the Laboratory Manager you will support line management of staff to ensure the generation of accurate and timely data in line with client expectations and ISO 17025:2017 (UKAS) and MCERTS standards.

2. You will assist in maintenance programmes for the Departments specific analytical instrumentation and any other analytical equipment used by the Department.

3. As the Laboratory Manager you will manage the performance, training and development of staff and conducting their appraisals in line with Company policies and procedure (including holiday and absent management).

4. You will continuously improve and develop effectiveness and efficiencies of the laboratory with the co-operation of Quality Department and other departments. Following H&S internal and external regulations with focus on COSHH

Role Requirements

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Laboratory Manager we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree in Chemistry or closely related discipline

2. Proven industry experience in managing a chemistry laboratory, in a contract testing business would be desirable but not essential.

3. A working knowledge and practical experience within and ISO 17025 environment.
