Purpose of the Role

This role will be based in our Rowfant laboratory, near Crawley. This is a rural setting with limited public transport and there will be occasional visits to other depots so requires a full UK driving licence. The operation carries out tests as part to the laboratory or job studies or in the industry in accordance with the defined test program. This role would suit graduates or similar level of education (not just science related), looking to start their career with a worldwide business with excellent training and development.

Main Responsibilities

As Lab Technician you will be trained in the maintenance of a clean, safe working environment and to undertake all activities safely, while being involved in the effective and efficient running of the laboratory. You will also undertake quality control work in the laboratory on new deliveries of bitumen and blended batches, maintain all laboratory records for work undertaken, assist with quality procedures and other projects as required.


In your training, you will be shown how to plan and carry out testing and equipment calibrations in accordance with the relevant standards and/or procedures, assist with the evaluation of the results of tests and calibrations, reporting opinions and interpretations and perform sampling on various sites.

The Ideal Candidate

This role typically requires applicants with a bachelor’s degree in a science and small amount of lab experienceBUT we are flexible and willing to invest in the training and development of applicants with a degree or similar level of education, in any discipline and with no previous experience. You will need to hold a UK driving licence as you will be asked to occasionally use the company pool car to visit locations with a colleague and take samples.
