Thermo Fisher Scientific has opened one position on Proteomics as part of our global applications support teambased at our demo facility at Hemel Hempstead / UK.

You work on a new era of groundbreaking technology based on mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography hyphenation techniques, operate latest developments in software paired with working in a phenomenal team of specialists and become a member of the global Thermo Fisher Scientific Proteomics network.

The application scientist is responsible to provide hands-on application and technical experience in pre-sales situations to assist customers and our sales organization. You will be engaged in product demonstrations, customer calls/visits together with sales colleagues, technical advice and support of sales colleagues, application development, customer support, and support scientific events.

Location:

The role is a lab-based position in the Hemel Hempstead demonstration laboratory (UK).

A day in the life:

  • Responsible for active contribution to the European financial targets and the achievement of the team goals.
  • Responsible to lead your allocated customer activities
  • Support sales projects with demonstrations (and all aspects required) and follow customers with high-quality post-sales support (digital, in person) resulting in customer satisfaction, repeat orders and establishment of a user-to-trusted consultant relationship.
  • Provide Proteomics applications/workflows pre-sales technical support to guide the sales representative and customers to the best solution for the customers’ short- and long-term needs and take account ownership.
  • Provide on-site support to Proteomics customers, KOLs, sales seed units, scientific user meetings and events.
  • Collect and communicate market intelligence and VOC information to relevant partners and the manager.

Key to success:

Education

  • Degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry, PhD would be preferred

Experience

  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative proteomics LCMS workflows (e.g. label free quantitation, TMT, PTM analysis and discovery proteomics)
  • Several years of hands-on experience in LC / mass spectrometry.
  • Experience with HRAM and Orbitrap technology would be an advantage.
  • Bioanalytical, multi-Omics and/or multi-channel LC experience would be a positive asset.

Knowledge/skills/abilities

  • Knowledge in proteomics applications and workflows, including method development, data acquisition and processing.
  • Familiar with market trends and drivers in proteomics market.
  • Positive and upbeat personality with strong sense of accountability, analytical and problem-solving skills, customer advocate.
  • Capable of taking the initiative, prioritizing and seeking support when needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, ability to work in teams and share information, knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, to prioritize and seek support when needed, to meet goals.
  • Excellent oral, written communication skills in English. Other European languages are a plus.
  • Travel (up to 25%) and driving license.
