Here at Evotec we are currently recruiting an experienced IT Systems Administrator to join our IT Team based at our campus at Milton Park, Abingdon, UK.

Evotec is a leader in the discovery and development of novel small molecule drugs with operational sites in Europe and the US. The Company has built substantial drug discovery expertise and an industrialised platform that can drive new innovative small molecule compounds into the clinic. In addition, Evotec has built a deep internal knowledge base in the treatment of diseases related to neuroscience, pain, oncology, inflammation and metabolic diseases. Leveraging these skills and expertise the Company intends to develop best-in-class differentiated therapeutics and deliver superior science-driven discovery alliances with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
Main Scope of Role
The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting our expanding IT server infrastructure and application platforms. They ensure the smooth deployment and operation of applications including the life cycle of the operating system and core IT software such as Antimalware and backup clients deployed in Evotec's infrastructure. This includes the delivery of, administration, running, diagnosing, log checking and troubleshooting of these environments and application platforms.
Principal Responsibilities
Maintain and implement Microsoft Windows Server Environment components and Linux servers to ensure optimal performance.
Provide IT systems support and operational services ensuring the company's systems are performing correctly.
Provide support to the network engineers regarding implementation and troubleshooting of the company network.
Be part of a project team and take an integral part in driving core components to implement new IT systems and services.
Provide in-depth troubleshooting of the company's IT services.
Help develop and improve detailed process and procedure documentation to support IT operations proactively making recommendations to improve processes.
Prepare and maintain written technical documentation including system builds and configuration, and startup/shutdown procedures for all servers and system/network applications and Technical How To's (THT’s).
Respond to tickets and automated system alerts and logs. Work within an ITSM tool and ensure change management is followed as needed.
Proactively ensure a high level of Windows server platform availability by applying patches and monitoring server/application performance for potential issues, identifying possible solutions, and working to implement both temporary and long-term fixes.
Where required, take ownership of ITSD Implementation tasks monitoring work in progress, acting as the key point of contact for Application owners regarding all application platform component requests, defining and coordinating tasks and working with other ITSD teams to ensure ITSD tasks are completed according to the deadlines.
Technical Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
A comprehensive working knowledge of providing IT services within a Directory services enabled environment.
High working knowledge of Microsoft server platforms including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting (2019, 2022).
A comprehensive knowledge of IPv4 networking, subnets, routing, VPN and VLANs (knowledge of HP Aruba networking is beneficial).
Experience / high working knowledge of corporate technology solutions, to include: Virtualization environments (VMware)
Storage NAS and SAN environments
Backup technology

Adhering to company global processes such as change management.
Working knowledge of core IT software such as Anti-malware deployed at a corporate level.
Able to support the creation, maintenance, and following of Global policies and procedures.
Experience in maintaining asset inventories.
The discipline to produce and follow detailed technical documentation for tasks and projects.
Experience within regulated environments such as ISO27001 or GxP is beneficial.
Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to plan and estimate tasks.
Knowledge of IT frameworks, such as ITIL, Kanban, Lean IT or Agile project management approaches.
Knowledge of Linux is beneficial.
Soft Skills and Qualifications
Ability to work independently and as a member of a collaborative team, supporting junior members of the team.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to communicate in both the local language and English.
Enthusiasm, self-motivation, flexibility, and readiness to quickly grasp new technical concepts and acquire new technical skills.
Interpersonal skills to influence and motivate others to get tasks delivered.
Minimum BSc in a relevant degree (or equivalent) preferred with 3 years plus experience in an IT corporate environment.
Agile mindset: capable of working with conflicting priorities and responding positively to changing demands.
