We are seeking a skilled and proactive IT Systems Administrator to join our small, dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in managing IT infrastructure projects from planning through to implementation, ensuring alignment with business objectives and timelines.
In addition to project delivery, the role involves offering responsive technical support, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and assisting users to ensure seamless operation of IT systems. This dual-focus position requires excellent communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to balance strategic project responsibilities with occasional hands-on support tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Including, but not limited to the following:
Install, configure, and maintain servers, switches, laptops, mobile phones and other IT infrastructure components.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal functionality.
Implement and manage security measures, including firewalls, antivirus solutions, and access controls.
Manage servers, virtual environments, cloud-based systems and a self-hosted email platform.
Provide 2nd and 3rd level technical support to staff and members, resolving hardware and software issues promptly.
Manage data backup and disaster recovery solutions to safeguard company information.
Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures.
Work closely with other IT team members and departments to support ongoing projects and initiatives.

Qualifications

Key Requirements:
Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft systems including Servers, Active Directory, Office365, Entra ID, and Windows 11
Comprehensive knowledge of IPv4 networking, subnets, routing, VPN and VLANs
Experience with VMware virtualization and cloud platforms in both AWS and Azure
Experience with enterprise backup and recovery solutions
Excellent problem-solving skills
Discipline to produce and follow detailed technical documentation for tasks and projects
Monitor and manage the internal infrastructure hosted on premise and in the cloud
Occasional out of hours work may be required. In such cases, time off in lieu will be granted
Good knowledge of email systems
Desirable Requirements:
Experience with Linux based systems highly desirable
Experience of AWS IAAS and terraform
Apple MacOS knowledge and experience ideal but not essential
Experience supporting Cisco Firewalls and network switches and Ubiquiti access points
Hold a full driving licence. Occasional travel is needed.
Ability to work independently and work as a member of a collaborative team.
Supporting other members of the team
Experience with self-hosted email platforms
Experience of using Remote Monitoring and Management systems
Education and Training Required:
Appropriate IT degree level educated or equivalent commercial experience.
Minimum Experience:
At least 2 to 3 years of relevant commercial experience with a relevant degree qualification (2:1 or higher), or 2 years without.
