In-House Legal Solutions is an international, entrepreneurial and friendly legal services business disrupting the legal industry. We like to do things differently - we champion wellbeing and empower our team to add true value.

We specialise in providing a fully outsourced in-house legal team to legal and business teams at an impressive list of global and UK based businesses and financial institutions. Our team and clients are global, as we operate in Europe, Asia-Pacific, Canada, UAE and the U.S. Our clients are in industries across broad sectors including TMT, software, media, marketing, accountancy, financial services, airports, pharmaceutical, professional services and beyond.

We were delighted in 2022 to win Outstanding Law Firm (Non-Contentious) Award in the Liverpool ADLA event and Innovation Winner for Business of the Year (under 30 employees) in the Liverpool Chamber awards and are nominated for Law Firm of the Year 2025 in the Women & Diversity in Law Awards!

We have fantastic modern offices in central Liverpool (with a roof-top bar!) and will soon be opening our Manchester offices. We offer remote working options for those not living in the North West. Our team members are mostly located in our Liverpool base however we have lawyers in London, UAE, the U.S., Australia and New Zealand. Our North-West team have the option to work on a hybrid basis with anchor days in the office.

We have a true focus on corporate social responsibility, ESG, pro bono, mental health in the workplace, promoting social mobility in the legal profession, supporting neurodiversity in the workplace and actively encouraging diversity and inclusion in our team. We embrace legal tech and AI, developing and implementing legal tech solutions and automation for our team and clients. Check out our social media pages for updates and you could play a part in developing each of these.

We are growing rapidly, which means we are recruiting ambitious solicitors to join our team who are bright, proactive and up for the challenge of scaling a growing business. Most lawyers are employed directly by us and work as part of our close-knit team, though we have options for those who want the flexibility to contract with us on a legal consultancy basis.

Responsibilities and Duties - What we are looking for:

We are growing rapidly, bringing in new clients to add to our already impressive client base and launching new service offerings. To help us do this we would be delighted to speak to solicitors with commercial contracts and/or in-house experience at any level, from NQ up to any year of PQE, who are proactive and up for the challenge that being part of a dynamic business brings.

A commercial solicitor would work in the External Legal Team Solution area of our business, to provide extra capacity to existing in-house legal teams in large businesses or to provide a complete solution to a business who do not have their own dedicated in-house legal resource. An experienced in-house solicitor may provide a General Counsel role or roles, including on a fractional basis. Solicitors would also have the opportunity to be involved in our Transaction Support Solutions area, where we specialise in financial services and assist our clients with the negotiation of commercial agreements arising out of a range of M&A, investments and debt transactions, such as confidentiality agreements, engagement letters for the provision of services, and more specific transaction documentation. We are looking for a commercial lawyer who is confident dealing closely with high profile clients.

The role for a more senior lawyer involves close supervision of our paralegal, trainee, apprentice and junior solicitor teams, and so it would suit someone that is keen to be responsible for leading and training a team of more junior lawyers, as well as culturally promoting an ethos of coaching and mentoring other lawyers.

A solicitor role will involve reviewing and negotiating more complex contracts, being responsible for onboarding and developing new and existing client relationships, assisting clients with legal optimisation, automation and legal tech, assisting us with the development and improvement of our internal processes, marketing and branding, business development, and researching and leading the implementation of new service offerings, not to mention working closely with the founders to help grow the business into the most trusted, reliable, value for money outsourced in-house legal solutions provider in the UK and beyond.

Qualifications and Skills - We would like to meet talented lawyers who:

  • Have post qualification experience as a solicitor (this can be flexible - additional qualification levels will also be considered), and are qualified preferably in England and Wales or any other Commonwealth jurisdiction or the U.S. (although other jurisdictions may be considered)
  • Can demonstrate strong technical legal ability, excellent attention to detail and a commercial mind
  • Are brimming with energy, ideas, a positive outlook and a can-do attitude
  • Are comfortable taking responsibility, running with projects and have a desire to lead
  • Are IT competent - a good grasp of professional social-media is preferred but not essential
  • Are fluent in English, with excellent verbal and written communication, and be legally able to work in the UK without restriction

Please submit both a CV and covering letter.

Benefits - What we can offer:

We offer a different career path to that of a traditional law firm which gives you the rare chance to develop as a lawyer, manager, decision maker and leader, with the opportunity to mentor and train junior lawyers and to work closely in a small team side by side with the founders, and other very experienced senior lawyers in the team. You will be learning first-hand from the business founders who are senior lawyers with experience both of working in magic circle and large regional law firms and within in-house legal teams for financial institutions in the City of London, and other experienced lawyers with significant in-house backgrounds, giving you an excellent basis on which to develop your skills.

We offer an attractive benefits package including private medical insurance, life insurance policy, Medicash scheme, two paid volunteering days per year for pro bono/charitable efforts away from the office, birthday day off, well-being hours and access to the Tempest building activities and discounts when available (which have included weekly pilates and yoga classes, art workshops and food and drink discounts).

Well-being is encouraged by our visiting office sausage dog!

If you think our business sounds right for you, please apply today!

We are an equal opportunities employer and we welcome applications from all minority and under-represented groups to play our part to improve diversity and equality in the legal industry. We are happy to receive requests for adjustments to make our application and interview process accessible and we have implemented processes at our interviews to assist those who are neurodiverse.

Job Type: Full-time, hybrid working options, currently minimum three days in the office including two anchor days.
