Instrument Technician

£38,000- 8am-4pm

Purpose

Responsible for instrument maintenance work on site, including planned, preventive and reactive activities. This is to ensure that site reliability and integrity is maintained to the required legal and company standards. This will be carried out as part of a shift team.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all Environmental, Health & Safety requirements are met during the execution of maintenance tasks.

  • Report any accidents or near misses as required by our health and safety policy.

  • Raise relevant work permit requests. Accept and follow the permit, isolation procedure and other related safe systems of work to complete the task. Complete and/or contribute to risk assessments associated with all maintenance duties expected for the role.

  • Complete scheduled maintenance as per the company maintenance plan to support the running of the production site.

  • Identify and rectify equipment defects related to your specific trade

  • Assist the Workshop Manager in proactively driving a culture of safety performance (BBS, Near Miss reporting, TBT’s, Chemical Awareness, Process Safety Management).

  • Participate in AINM’s (Accident, Incident, Near Miss) reviews and assist in the evaluation of the safety status of the workshop

  • Participate in safety management related activities including routine plant safety

  • Safety- ensure work is carried out safely & as per company guidelines

  • Quality- Ensure job is right first time, minimize rework on equipment by working to Quality & performance Standards

  • Fault Finding & improvement activities to reduce repeat equipment failures

  • Participate as required in Team Building activities

  • Participate communication with Engineering & production

  • Ensure any sensitive information remains within the Company

  • Complete other Tasks as required.

    Skills & Qualifications

    Education

    Essential Relevant Trade Qualification as an Instrument Technician

    Desirable Ideally with a recognised level 3 education certificate, such as NVQ or HNC, in a relevant engineering field.

    Key Skills

    Essential Highly driven and self-motivated, KPI focused.

    Enjoys working under pressure of a manufacturing setting.

    Good organizational skills.

    Excellent communicator, equally comfortable working in a highly technical or shopfloor environment.

    Experience in Maintenance, calibration and testing of Temperature, Pressure, Flow, Level & Analyser instrumented systems & other miscellaneous Plant instrumentation.

    Familiar with the use of computers for allocating, receiving & signing off maintenance work.

    Desirable Knowledge of Profibus PA instrumentation (can be taught in House)

    Work Experience Above 5 years Engineering experience.

    Preference Having a Pharmaceutical or Petro-Chem Background
