Our client is one of the largest facilities management and maintenance contractors in the UK, offering market leading opportunities for talented professionals looking for long term career progression.
Due to an increase in upcoming projects, there is now a need for a Health & Safety Manager to join this highly successful and forward-thinking organisation.
We are looking for a Health & Safety Manager who wants to work in a diverse role where no two days are the same.
As the Health & Safety Manager, you will provide the delivery of both planned and reactive FM maintenance services.
The Health & Safety Manager, will be responsible for:

  • Engagement across the team from the management to the shop floor to our contractor supply chain to embed health and safety best practice and adhere to our clients contractor management programme.
  • Leading on programmes of work and new initiatives across health and
  • Managing a regular audit and reporting program and communicating performance.
  • Act as a key Health & Safety point of contact for the on site team and our contractor supply chain..
  • Managing and delivering appropriate training programmes, methods of delivery and evaluation of effectiveness to ensure employees are competent regarding their HSE duties, including toolbox talks.
  • Developing appropriate arrangements to ensure that risks from contractors and third-party suppliers are managed and effectively and in line with our client's contractor management programme.
  • Proactively driving the Health & Safety agenda within the team, from hazard observations, near miss reporting, engagement of site safety champions and H&S.
  • Undertaking investigations of site incidents and accidents that addresses circumstances, cause and consider improvements that could be made.
  • Build a strong working relationship with the central Mitie HSE team and actively engage with them on high-risk activities.
  • Regular Gemba's of the site to ensure we are delivering a safe and working
  • Manage and maintain the COSHH register.
    To be successful for this Health & Safety Manager role you must have:
  • Safety and/or environmental bias in previous roles.
  • NEBOSH Certificate essential or equivalent level 3 qualification.
  • Strong technical/ engineering understanding in a manufacturing/ pharmaceutical environment.
  • Able to demonstrate continuing professional development.
  • Evidence of practical audit/inspection.
  • Experience in delivery of QHSE.
  • Broad experience and expertise in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Experience of Integrated Facilities Management sector, in particular Hard or Soft Services where applicable.
