Job Summary: The Business Finance associate will serve as a key financial business partner. This role is responsible for providing strategic financial guidance, insightful analysis, and robust financial planning to support decision-making, drive performance, and ensure the achievement of financial objectives. The Business Finance Associate will act as a bridge between finance and the business, translating financial concepts into actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: Act as a trusted financial advisor to business unit heads and their teams, providing proactive financial insights and recommendations. Support strategic decision-making processes by conducting financial feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, and scenario planning for new projects, product launches, or market entries. Collaborate with business partners to develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to their operations. Provide financial expertise during commercial negotiations, partnership evaluations, and licensing agreements. Lead and manage the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes for assigned business units/functions. Develop and maintain detailed financial models to support various business scenarios, investment decisions, and strategic initiatives. Conduct variance analysis (actual vs. budget/forecast) and provide clear explanations for deviations, identifying risks and opportunities. Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports, dashboards, and presentations to senior management and business leaders. Identify opportunities for cost optimization and efficiency improvements across the business unit/function. Monitor and analyse expenditure, ensuring adherence to budget and company policies. Develop and implement financial controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance. Evaluate proposed investments, projects, and capital expenditures, performing robust ROI and NPV analysis. Monitor and report on the financial performance of ongoing investments. Process Improvement and Systems: Continuously identify and implement improvements to financial processes, tools, and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Work with IT and other finance teams to optimize financial reporting and analytical capabilities. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure all financial activities comply with company policies, accounting standards (e.g., IFRS/US GAAP), and relevant regulatory requirements within the pharmaceutical industry. Support internal and external audits as required. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. A Master degree (MBA) or a professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA) is highly preferred. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in finance roles, with a significant portion in a business partnering or FP and capacity. Prior experience within the pharmaceutical industry is preferable Demonstrated experience in financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Experience with investment appraisal and strategic financial planning. Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including non-finance professionals. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with SAP ERP systems. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Strong understanding of accounting principles. Knowledge of the pharmaceutical value chain, including R&D, clinical trials, regulatory affairs, manufacturing, and commercialization, is a significant advantage.
