The Role – Finance Business Partner – Commercial

As a Finance Business Partner for the commercial teams, you will play a vital role in providing clear, actionable financial insights to support strategic decision-making and operational execution. By working closely with sales, marketing and operations functions, you will ensure financial clarity and alignment across forecasting, budgeting, and performance management. Your analysis will be crucial in helping the business achieve its commercial goals and broader strategic ambitions.

What will you be doing?

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Budgeting & Planning
  • Support the annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasting cycles, delivering accurate, data-driven financial projections.
  • Commercial Decision Support
  • Deliver in-depth financial analysis and recommendations to inform and enhance commercial decisions across the sales cycle.
  • Rebate Management
  • Track rebate accruals and provisions, proactively identifying risks and opportunities to ensure accurate financial recognition
  • S&OP Process Involvement
  • Collaborate with Operations and Supply Chain teams to provide forecast data and assess the impact on inventory planning, purchase decisions, and capacity
  • Inventory & Obsolescence Analysis
  • Review stock positions regularly, contributing to stock review processes by highlighting potential risks and flagging concerns around obsolescence early.
  • Customer & Partner Engagement
  • Support customer meetings, tenders, and pitches with relevant financial insight, analysis, and data to strengthen commercial outcomes
  • Performance Reporting
  • Produce monthly analysis of sales performance, including forecast updates, key risks, and opportunities, for presentation to the Head of FP&A and CFO
  • Market & Competitor Insight:

Maintain and report on product and portfolio-level market share, including competitive analysis to support strategic commercial planning.

TECHNICAL & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION REQUIRED

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or ACA)
  • Strong Excel capabilities
  • Proficient in financial systems
  • Power BI experience preferred
  • Minimum 1 year post-qualification experience
  • Experience supporting commercial teams in a business partnering role
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is a plus, but not required
