Job Description
We are looking for a Finance Business Partner to optimise the use of Genomics England's annual budget through excellent financial management and informed decision making.
In this role, you will collaborate with key stakeholders to challenge and support, providing valuable financial insights and advice.
You will play a pivotal role in driving financial performance, finalising the 24/25 outturn and assisting with 25/26 budget planning.
Everyday responsibilities include:
Partner key stakeholders acting as a bridge between Finance and the Business by utilising strategic and technical finance skills to create value and enable Genomics England to meet its company goals.
Building strong and lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders, to ensure Finance feeds into decision making.
Play an integral role in financial management through the year, particularly in areas of forecasting and budget management to support strategic company objectives.
Present quality finance information to the business, process, model and interrogate data, turning this into information to support decision making.
Develop an understanding of how the business works and identify critical success factors in the organisation and understand how the role of the Finance Business Partner can enable this.
Develop broader commercial acumen that increases breadth of understanding and ability to identify external events that could impact on Genomics England.
Provide support to the wider Finance function including providing input where necessary to the production of quarterly & annual returns to Department of Health & Social Care, the GEL annual statutory accounts and company budgets/plans.

Part or Full Qualified Accountant.
Strong understanding of the key values of a Finance Business Partner (FBP), ensuring financial data and intelligence are aligned with customer expectations.
Proficient in both verbal and written communication, with the ability to translate complex financial concepts for non-finance stakeholders.
Skilled in building and maintaining effective relationships with senior stakeholders to support collaboration and business objectives.
Experience in managing budgets, conducting variance analysis, and modelling financial scenarios to inform decision-making.
Proficient in using Microsoft tools to create and maintain management information, with the ability to integrate data for meaningful financial discussions.
Strong organisational abilities, committed to documentation, reproducible work, and accurate record-keeping.
