Job Title: Senior Real World Data Scientist / Epidemiologist


Location: Welwyn Garden City, UK (Hybrid – 2 days per week onsite)

Contract Type: 6-month contract (Inside IR35)

Start Date: 18 August 2025

Right to Work: Must have valid UK work authorization (no sponsorship provided)


A leading pharmaceutical company is seeking a Senior Real World Data (RWD) Scientist / Epidemiologist to support observational and non-interventional study work focused on neuromuscular diseases such as DMD, SMA, and FSHD. This hybrid role will contribute to real-world evidence (RWE) generation through protocol development, data source evaluation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and write protocols for non-interventional real-world data studies (retrospective and prospective)
  • Evaluate the feasibility and quality of real-world data sources such as disease registries, electronic medical records (EMR), and claims data
  • Collaborate with data analysts and statisticians to shape analytical approaches (familiarity with R is a plus)
  • Partner with teams across clinical science, medical affairs, regulatory affairs, access, and safety
  • Support study dissemination through scientific reports, publications, and presentations
  • Work under the guidance of senior RWE scientists in a collaborative environment

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • MSc in Epidemiology, Pharmacoepidemiology, or a related field (PhD preferred)
  • 1–3 years of experience designing and reporting on RWD or observational studies
  • Experience working with data from registries, EMR, or claims
  • Prior exposure to pharmaceutical, CRO, or post-doctoral research environments
  • Experience with post-approval safety or effectiveness studies is a plus
  • Interest or experience in neuromuscular diseases (e.g., SMA, DMD, FSHD)

Eligibility:

  • Must be based within commuting distance of Welwyn Garden City
  • Able to work onsite two days per week
  • Not suitable for candidates lacking hands-on real-world data study experience or relevant postgraduate qualifications
