Senior Electrical Estimator – London
My client, a well-established M&E contractor, is currently looking to appoint a proficient Electrical Estimator to strengthen their estimating team in London. They're after someone who is technically solid, commercially minded, and highly organised — with experience preparing detailed estimates, bills of quantities, and schedules of rates for large-scale projects.
The Role:


  • Work in line with pre-agreed tender strategies, including supplier engagement and value engineering options.

  • Log and manage tender enquiries, while maintaining electronic and physical records.

  • Review all relevant documentation including drawings, specs, prelims, client queries, and submission requirements.

  • Source and liaise with both named and alternative suppliers for pricing.

  • Carry out take-offs for labour, materials, and plant from drawings and supporting documents.

  • Issue bid packages with clear deadlines and follow up to ensure timely returns.

  • Input and update all information on estimating software throughout the process.

  • Clearly define scope, including inclusions and exclusions within the submission.

  • Liaise with in-house design and project teams to plan delivery methods, with a focus on cost-effectiveness and innovation.

  • Create and manage a tender programme to ensure internal deadlines are met.

  • Present estimates to senior management ahead of final submission.

  • Handle post-tender queries and support the team during any clarifications.

  • Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, contractors, and consultants.

  • Actively identify upcoming tender opportunities and share with the work-winning team.

  • Bring a commercial mindset to the process and look for smarter ways of working.

  • Support and mentor junior estimators within the team.

  • Carry out any other relevant tasks as directed by the Estimating Manager.

What They're Looking For:


  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in the building services industry

  • Strong background in MEP tenders ranging from £5M to £30M+

  • Experience working on commercial, education, healthcare, and pharmaceutical projects

Ideal Candidate Profile:


  • Confident user of Microsoft Office and estimating software (Excel in particular)

  • Highly accurate with excellent attention to detail

  • Collaborative team player with good time management

  • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

  • Clear communicator who can work across departments

  • Proactive and commercially aware, with a problem-solving mindset
