Job overview The Digital Development Manager plays a key role in driving digital transformation within the Trust’s Digital Clinical Services division. This role is responsible for managing and delivering cross-cutting digital projects that contribute to the Trust-wide transformation programme. By leveraging Agile and Quality, Sustainability, Improvement, and Redesign (QSIR) methodologies, the post holder will ensure projects are aligned with strategic objectives, delivered on time, and within budget.
Key responsibilities include identifying and initiating projects that improve operational performance and clinical service delivery, defining project scope and objectives, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and managing risks and benefits. The role requires strong stakeholder engagement, working closely with clinical, operational, and corporate teams, as well as external partners such as NHS England, NHS Digital, and suppliers.
The Digital Development Manager will oversee project governance, ensuring all documentation, reporting, and financial controls are in place. The role also involves line management responsibilities and advocating for digital transformation across the Trust. With oversight of project budgets ranging from £50K to £2M, the post holder will play a crucial role in optimizing digital services to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
This is a dynamic position suited for a strategic thinker with strong project management and leadership skills.
Main duties of the job Project Management: Lead digital projects to enhance clinical and operational performance, defining objectives, scope, deliverables, and risks in line with the Trust’s transformation programme.
Stakeholder Engagement: Establish and manage project teams, collaborating with internal divisions and external partners, including NHS England, NHS Digital, and suppliers.
Governance & Reporting: Maintain key project documents—briefs, risk registers, plans, and reports—ensuring compliance with Trust project management frameworks.
Implementation & Delivery: Oversee project execution, managing resources, costs, and timelines. Monitor progress, report outcomes, and lead post-project reviews.
Financial Management: Manage budgets from £50K to £2M, ensuring financial accountability and effective resource allocation.
Change Advocacy: Act as a digital transformation champion, advising staff and managers on change initiatives and representing the Trust in external discussions.
People Management: Supervise administrative support and coordinate multidisciplinary teams (5-20 stakeholders), fostering collaboration.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities Role Purpose: Lead and manage cross-cutting digital projects within the Trust’s transformation programme, ensuring delivery using Agile and QSIR methodologies

Governance & Compliance: Ensure projects align with the Trust’s Project and Programme Management (PPM) framework and reporting standards.
Financial Responsibility: Manage project budgets ranging from £50K to £2M, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
Communication & Change Management: Act as a digital transformation advocate, providing expert advice and engaging stakeholders at all levels.
People Management: Oversee administrative support and coordinate large-scale project teams (5-20 stakeholders).
Reporting & Documentation: Maintain project briefs, risk registers, progress reports, and ensure compliance with reporting schedules.
Performance Monitoring: Track project progress, ensuring timely delivery, benefits realization, and lessons learned.
Trust Representation: Liaise with NHS England, NHS Digital, and external partners to drive digital innovation.
This role is critical in enhancing digital services, improving patient care, and supporting operational efficiency within the Trust.
Person specification Education Higher education qualification / masters in management (e.g. DMS), or relevant equivalent experience.
Accredited QSIR Practitioner or other Quality Improvement qualification
Experience Project management experience managing multiple complex projects within the NHS or a comparable large organisation
Experience in delivering digital, administrative or IT programmes in a healthcare setting
Must have experience of managing internal and external stakeholder engagement, including managing relationships and coordinating work between cross-functional teams.
Experience of operational and non-operational management in the NHS
Knowledge Working knowledge of a clinical operations environment and how to manage conflicting priorities to ensure projects are delivered.
Knowledge of current healthcare policy in the NHS and how this applies to the local health economy.
