MERITUS are recruiting for a Design Manager from a Life Sciences & Pharmaceuticals background to support a long term project for small works.PLEASE NOTEYou must have Life Sciences experience in order to qualify for the position.
DESIGN MANAGER - £NEG PER ANNUM - CHESHIRE - LIFE SCIENCES BACKGROUND - FIT OUT & REMODELLING
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Design Manager to join a dedicated team delivering a long-term framework in the Life Sciences sector in Macclesfield. This on-site role involves close collaboration with the framework delivery team and client representatives, ensuring high standards of design coordination across a diverse portfolio of small works projects.

Role Overview

As a Design Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the design process from tender through to completion. You will lead a team of design coordinators and manage external design consultants and subcontractors, ensuring that all design deliverables are produced accurately and on time to support the successful delivery of construction activities on site.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the management of design consultants, sub-consultants, and subcontractor design elements to ensure timely and accurate delivery of design information.

Mentor and support design coordinators across various projects within the framework.

Ensure compatibility and compliance between the Employer's Requirements and Contractor's Proposals.

Oversee and support the design process throughout the construction phase.

Chair and document design meetings, and monitor the timely production and coordination of design information.

Experience Required

Proven experience managing projects from RIBA Stage 2 through to Stage 7.

Experience handling multiple concurrent projects, ideally within the pharmaceutical, life sciences, or cleanroom sectors.

Strong understanding of fit-out and remodelling projects, particularly within regulated environments.

Familiarity with NEC contract forms.

Background in architecture or MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) design.

Awareness of manufacturing, assembly, or life science processes is beneficial.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Experience using Viewpoint for Projects (4Projects) or similar CDE platforms.
