Mechanical Design Engineer
Widnes (WA8)
£47.5k - £50k per annum + Bonus + Benefits

The Opportunity:

We’re looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to take ownership of end-to-end design processes – from concept through to final delivery. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams and external partners, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective designs that meet client specifications and compliance requirements.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Deliver detailed 3D mechanical designs for complex assemblies and components
Take full design ownership throughout the lifecycle of multiple projects
Liaise with suppliers, clients, and internal departments to ensure smooth delivery
Conduct risk assessments, FMEA, and create supporting documentation and manuals
Monitor your own design hours and manage design change requests
Participate in internal and external design reviews
Ensure accurate data management through design systems and structuresWhat You’ll Need:

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical design, ideally with hands-on knowledge in automated or engineered systems (conveyor systems would be beneficial) 
Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
Strong mechanical understanding, with familiarity in electrical components such as motors and sensors
Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (Autodesk Inventor or similar) and AutoCAD
A proactive and collaborative mindset, with strong communication and problem-solving skillsWhat’s On Offer:
