SYTECH is seeking a dedicated Deputy Manager to support our dynamic Digital Forensics Laboratory team!

As a key member of our organisation, you will assist the Laboratory Manager in the running of the Digital Forensic Laboratory. This role involves a team dedicated to the forensic capture, preservation, and processing of digital data from computers and mobile devices for use as evidence in criminal investigations, adhering to the ISO 17025 standard and the Forensic Science Regulators Codes of Practice. Your contributions will be key in upholding the technical accuracy and integrity of forensic services, while promoting a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and compliance with best practices within the lab.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Laboratory Manager to lead a highly skilled team of forensic analysts and technicians. You will work alongside various stakeholders to ensure all laboratory processes meet industry standards such as ISO 17025. Moreover, you will offer mentorship and training to your team, encouraging them to excel in their work while fostering an environment of accountability and ethical conduct.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities

Deputise for the Laboratory Manager when required with the following tasks:

    • Overseeing the laboratory staff ensuring they are trained, competent and have access to the correct procedures to complete their role.
    • Ensuring quality standards are adhered to.
    • Ensuring a safe working environment for the laboratory staff.
    • Handling the workload of the laboratory, including prioritisation to meet customer needs.
    • Stay on top of new developments in digital forensics to meet future client needs.
    • Attending host meetings.
    • Assisting in training where gaps are discovered.
    • Assist with procedural and policy reviews and updates.

Qualifications and Experience

    • Degree equivalent qualification in Digital Forensics, Forensic Science or related discipline or relevant experience in field.
    • Management experience (desirable).
    • Strong communications skills.

Working Conditions

Travel between sites and to third-party locations, i.e., to customers, conferences, workplace events may be required as part of the role.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in a laboratory environment, preferably in a forensic or compliance-focused role.
  • Strong background in quality management systems and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience liaising with clients and stakeholders.
  • Desirable: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Desirable: Familiarity with forensic analysis techniques and tools.
  • Full UK driving licence (desirable).

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum-depending on your experience, skills, and qualifications, plus the opportunity for growth based on your performance and contributions to the role.
