Location:Newcastle Office with hybrid working

Employment:Full-time 

Salary Range: A highly competitive package will be offered to the successful candidate

with the ability to earn additional on target bonus.

Position Summary:

The Commercial Manager is responsible for driving the corporate commercial strategy and managing key client relationships to maximise revenue, market share, and profitability. The role requires a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, market dynamics, and regulatory environment. 

The Commercial Manager will lead the sales, marketing and export teams, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals. They will also be responsible for aligning cross-functional teams to meet business objectives.



Major Areas of Responsibility:

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and develop sales and marketing teams, ensuring effective execution of commercial plans and performance targets.

Financial Management:

  • Manage budgets, pricing strategies and commercial contracts to ensure profitability and compliance with industry regulations.

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with company goals to drive growth across key therapeutic areas.

Sales & Business Development:

  • Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and distribution channels. Lead sales planning, forecasting, and performance tracking.

Corporate & Market Analysis:

  • Analyse corporate sales and segmental market trends, product pricing, tenders, commercial deals and promotional opportunities. Insight into competitor activities and customer behaviour to guide commercial decisions.

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, wholesalers, distributors, and regulatory bodies

Product Launches:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Supply Chain, etc.) to lead planning and execution of successful product launches.

Deputising:

  • As needed the Commercial Manage will act as deputy for the General Manager

Compliance:

  • Ensure all commercial activities comply with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards within the pharmaceutical industry (e.g., GMP, GDP, local laws).


Accountability (an expansion of major areas of responsibility)

  • Operate within the spirit of the ABPI code of practice and build a professional image for Derma UK at all times.
  • Be aware of and comply with the relevant company commercial SOP’s and working practices
  • Undergo Pharmacovigilance training annually.
  • Undergo Good Distribution Practice training annually.
  • Be aware of company responsibilities and processes for reporting Adverse Events and Product Quality Complaints associated with the company’s products.
  • Understand and be competent with the Adverse Event Reporting Systems required for Pharmacovigilance.
  • Have an awareness of the Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD) and be vigilant of any associated risks to the Derma UK supply chain.


Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Business or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical sales, marketing or commercial management
  • ABPI Qualification.
  • Full, clean driving license.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulation and market dynamics
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Analytical thinker with strong strategic planning capabilities


Preferred Experience

  • Experience in launching new pharmaceutical products
  • Knowledge of market access and reimbursement processes
  • Exposure to both branded and generic pharma markets
