Allergan Aesthetics | An AbbVie Company

Job Description

Joining Allergan Aesthetics (AA) means you will be part of a team of outstanding professionals dedicated to making a remarkable impact on patients’ lives. AA exists to empower confidence for consumers and customers, creating products and technologies that drive the advancement of aesthetic medicine. We believe in the power of shaping your own life, your own business, your own look – and we continue to evolve our business around the needs of those we serve. United by our shared belief in what we do and a commitment to doing what is right, we bring our best every day to empower confidence.

Why become a Clinical Specialist?

If you have a passion for facial aesthetics, training, developing yourself and others, and in raising the bar in the standard of services that we provide to our customers then this could be your dream role!

Clinical Specialists undertake an intensive Learner Journey not only spanning the initial 9-week on-boarding period but extending up to the first 12 months. To complement this, you will also benefit from learning on the job with Clinical Specialist colleagues in-field, and via training from some of the industry’s expert faculty and key opinion leaders. Skills gained are many with focus on facilitation, communication, assessing educational needs and coaching. In addition, you will benefit from the extensive project management skills leveraged in this role and from exposure to event planning and delivery.

Like any role, being a Clinical Specialist does have its challenges. The role has administrative requirements through activity reporting and mandatory documentation plus complying with in-country legal & compliance regulations. There may be unexpected surprises, like days when your injector cancels your training session at short notice, or when a patient fails to attend a facilitation session. At times it can be a demanding role with extensive travel and flexible hours to suit AA’s and our injector’s needs.

The extensive training, and the unique experiences of the Clinical Specialist, will set you up for an interesting career in AA or AbbVie either within the Allergan Medical Institute (AMI) or in other related teams such as Sales or Medical Affairs.

What your new manager wants you to know

As a Clinical Specialist, you will work as part of the AMI, partnering with healthcare professionals (HCPs) in aesthetic practices. You will help to optimise their clinical and communication skills with patients by implementing key learnings from the AMI Infinity Curricula into their day-to-day practice with the on-label use of the AA facial aesthetics portfolio.

Through 1:1 in-clinic facilitation tailored to educational needs, and aligned to the AMI Infinity Curricula, you will guide on patient and facial assessment aligned to the MD Codes, and any other relevant Facilitation Programme. You will also cover related anatomy, ageing, and aseptic non-touch technique (ANTT) plus the implementation of injection techniques covered within the relevant AMI Curriculum undertaken. You will be provided with a variety of tools to assist in the transfer of knowledge during your injector facilitations and discussions.

Experienced in consultative patient facilitation, you will assess educational needs, aiming to fill knowledge and skills gaps. Taking the theory learned from the AMI educational programmes, you support implementation into practice, in the clinical setting, on completion of relevant and/or required AMI content e.g., MD Codes Immersion Curriculum for HCPs.

Educational needs will be specific to the individual injector and based on mutually agreed knowledge/skills gaps. This needs assessment determines the individualized facilitation pathway for each HCP, and in relevant markets, other in-clinic staff such as Beauty Consultants and Patient Coordinators.

You are more than just a title, you are…

  • A Coach identifying clinical educational needs and supporting injector development to enhance clinical performance through delivering a bespoke educational journey.
  • Delivering a value-added service, which helps clinicians and practice owners make informed decisions about patient assessment, treatment planning and treatment.
  • Results driven – implementing strategies and plans to further benefit patient outcomes, patient safety and HCP needs.

Qualifications

You will…

  • Have a thirst for your own knowledge development – keeping up to date with the facial aesthetics market and enjoy coaching & developing others.
  • Build relationships internally and externally – collaborating closely with internal cross-functional stakeholders to better understand AMI and AA strategy requirements, and your HCP’s to better understand their educational needs.
  • Take initiative and responsibility to deliver results and get the job done. Including ownership of self-directed learning & development through AA’s Clinical Specialist Modern Learner Journey.
  • Demonstrate integrity modelling Allergan Aesthetic and AbbVie values in pursuit of AMI educational goals.

You will bring…

  • A University degree in a clinically based subject, ideally medicine, nursing, or dentistry.
  • Experience within a sales, educational, or clinical specialist role within the pharmaceutical / medical device / aesthetics industry or alternatively, experience working in clinical practice.
  • Experience as an injector in the facial aesthetics arena is preferable but not essential.
  • Skills in Microsoft Office
  • A valid local driver’s license.
  • Experience in training/coaching including event management, preparation and delivery of workshops and other training solutions.
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills in both group and one-one settings.
  • A metrics-driven mindset with experience of tracking activity in a CRM tool.
