Job Title: Clinical Application Specialist - Ophthalmology

Location: South/Southeast UK (Remote with travel to client sites)
Reports To: Regional Sales Manager
Contract Type: Permanent
Start Date: ASAP - Ideally November
Department: Meditech Ophthalmology

About the Role

As a Clinical Application Specialist, you will play a key role within the UK Ophthalmology team, supporting the clinical implementation and adoption of innovative surgical technologies across key customer accounts. This is a field-based role focused on the South/Southeast region, with occasional national support as required.

You will act as a trusted clinical advisor, delivering expert training and ongoing support to healthcare professionals to ensure optimal product usage and improved patient outcomes. Working closely with the sales team, your role will be vital in enhancing customer retention, supporting account development, and driving clinical excellence in ophthalmic procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver expert on-site clinical support and application training for ophthalmic devices and software solutions.
Build and maintain strong relationships with ophthalmic surgeons, theatre staff, and other key decision-makers within the NHS and private sectors.
Collaborate with the regional sales team to identify opportunities for account growth and support sales initiatives through clinical value demonstration.
Provide application insights aligned with the strategic business plan, ensuring product usage meets customer and surgical team needs.
Lead training sessions for new installations and ensure a smooth onboarding process for clinical users.
Support key focus accounts with a consultative approach to increase user confidence, promote product awareness, and drive clinical engagement.
Stay informed on industry developments, clinical practices, and competitor activity to maintain relevance and expertise.
Represent the organisation professionally and ethically at all times, demonstrating a high standard of integrity and commitment to customer satisfaction.

Required Skills & Experience

Essential:

Proven experience in a healthcare clinical support or sales support role.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Clinically credible with a strong customer service orientation.
Outcome-focused with a drive to contribute to business success.
Flexibility to travel extensively across the assigned region.Desirable:

Clinical experience in ophthalmology or surgical settings.
Prior experience supporting or training healthcare professionals.
Experience working with innovative medical technologies or devices.

Qualifications

Essential:

Degree in Healthcare, Health Science, Biomedical Science, Life Sciences, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
