Job overview

Working Full time : 37.5 hours per week

The post holder will join the team of Consultant Microbiologists, Specialty Doctor and Biomedical Scientist to provide of a comprehensive Clinical Microbiology service for Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and West Cheshire GP practices to aid effective diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of infections.

The post is based in the Countess of Chester Hospital and provides clinical support to the microbiology laboratory, which is located off-site in Bromborough. The laboratory provides a joint microbiology service to the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will provide a wide ranging and comprehensive microbiology and infection prevention service to the Trust and other users of the service.

The post-holder will participate (under the supervision of the Consultants Microbiologist) in an advisory service provided by the Department to other health professionals within the Trust and Primary Care, to aid the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
