As we embark on opening a new Clinical Research Unit (CRU) and take ownership of a Mobile Research Unit (MRU), we are looking for an enthusiastic, competent Registered Nurse with experience in delivering clinical research studies or a nurse with a strong clinical background and significant post-registration experience interested in working as a Research Nurse.

The Countess of Chester Research and Innovation department seeks a forward-thinking, positive, enthusiastic, and motivated individual to join our Acute & General Medicine Clinical Research Delivery Team. Experience working in an acute NHS care setting is essential. The role is clinically based to support research across medical specialties. The post holder will provide support and cover for other team members.

You will have the opportunity to be involved in various academic and commercial NIHR Portfolio studies and will support trials both on-site and through our new Mobile Research Unit (MRU).

Informal visits or contact by telephone/email are encouraged to help applicants understand the role's expectations. Secondment from your current role will be considered.

The successful candidate will join an expanding team and will be responsible for the day-to-day management of their assigned NIHR Portfolio studies, contributing to team objectives.

Excellent communication and team skills are vital, as you will work closely with team members and play a pivotal role in screening, clinical assessment, recruitment, and patient follow-up.

Collaborative working is key. You should demonstrate initiative and confidence when interacting with individuals at all levels. You must be able to plan, adapt, and manage competing priorities independently and support colleagues and any direct reports' development.

Good IT skills are essential, along with the ability to work under tight deadlines, maintain high accuracy standards, and pay attention to detail.

Research experience is advantageous but not essential; comprehensive training and support will be provided for the right candidate with a keen interest in NHS clinical research.

Recent clinical experience in a secondary care setting is required, and you will be expected to maintain your clinical skills relevant to the role while developing new ones as appropriate.

Travel to the Ellesmere Port site may be required to support study participants.

In 2022/2023, there were over 503,342 patient attendances, an increase of nearly 10,000 from the previous year.

See the Job Description for further details.

Recruitment is based on competence and values (see Person Specification).

Applicants will need to pay for their DBS check, with costs deducted over the first three months. Enrolling in the DBS Update Service is encouraged; a small annual fee of £16 applies.

New NHS entrants will start at the minimum of the pay scale.

Good luck with your application.
