The purpose of this role

Clinical Educator Ostomy

is to educate and support both HCPs and internal teams on clinical aspects of Ostomy care. To support with education from diagnosis and across the continuum of care, identifying gaps in knowledge and the needs of the HCPs. You would also support internal teams including Amcare on clinical questions and advice. Working alongside the field teams and their accounts you will advise on our product range and its benefits to patients sharing evidence such as case studies and research in support. As a customer facing role, you will work with KOLs and Advocates on service development, audits, potential research, educational programmes and gather insights for the sales and marketing teams. You will work closely with the Marketing team in the production of educational materials and with the Global medical affairs team to ensure education strategy alignment.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Support
Understand and provide a clinical voice for Business Unit objectives and goals related to Ostomy product usage and new patient referrals.
Pass sales opportunities that arise from clinical activity to appropriate Business Development Manager or Product Specialist Teams.
Support the commercial team with clinical input for any contracts, tender submissions, or drug tariff applications.
Establish effective working relationships with other healthcare professionals to develop the service and gain appropriate referrals.
To develop and refresh internal clinical induction training for all new starters in the Ostomy and Amcare Teams.
To act as a role model of expert clinical practice, empowering internal and external stakeholders through effective teaching and team working.
To incorporate and adhere to national and locally agreed standards and guidelines into any clinical advice or activities provided.
Ensure full understanding and compliance with Convatec & Trust SOPs, policies & procedures. Attendance at Sales and Marketing meetings to maintain current knowledge of business unit strategies and objectives.
Build relationships internally, specifically with customer service, Amcare advisors, product specialists, marketing, regulatory and medical, and inputs as required with key wording and collation of clinical research, case studies etc.
Attend conferences to develop knowledge and engage with peers.
Education & Training
Develop material and deliver educational sessions for professionals, end users, interest groups and internal teams.
Deliver educational programmes and product updates for other clinical nurse teams within independent dispensing appliance contractors (DACs) as guided by National Clinical Manager.
Ensure specialist knowledge of ConvaTec Ostomy portfolio and Amcare Group home delivery service and advise HCPs on rationale for choosing.
Attendance at key conferences and events to promote and develop ConvaTec and Amcare profile within the Ostomy marketplace.
Present at key meetings and events to raise awareness of key issues in Ostomy Care.
Identify gaps and work with marketing to generate appropriate collateral to increase awareness of key target areas for ConvaTec and Amcare.
Research & Insight
Ensures all confidential Patient information and any data collection through activities is maintained in line with Company and hospital/CCG policies using patient record system (PRS) where available.
Build and develop relations with Key Opinion Leaders and advocates within the Ostomy marketplace, supporting any Global KOL initiatives.
Run and support HCP and User Advisory Boards working closely with the Insight Specialist, Amcare Team and Global Marketing.
Maintain professional competencies through attendance on external courses, professional meetings, and personal readings. Completes all requirements for CPD and professional registration.
YOUR PROFILE
Qualified Nurse RGN (essential)
Nursing Degree or equivalent qualification
Recognised Stoma Care Qualification
Car driver essential Full driving license required.
Proven experience with an interest within the stoma care / colorectal area.
Evidence of recent post registration training and development
Disclosure and Barring service check
Experience & Knowledge
Commercial experience highly desirable
Ability to identify and act upon business opportunities to achieve objectives.
Desirable both hospital and community experience
Has specialist knowledge of Ostomy products.
Experience or understanding of Dispensing Appliance Contractors and their role (DACs)
Experience of working with a range of clinicians from Colorectal and Stoma nurses, colorectal Consultants, continence advisors, district teams, pharmacists, and nurses.
Good understanding of how to signpost patients and carers to right NHS services.
Strong presenter and communicator.
Experience of delivering of training and education.
Can work under pressure and prioritise workload.
Cross functional team working.
Travel Requirements
Daily travel across your territory with an expectation to be in the Acute setting.
Occasional nights away from home for the purpose of attending meetings and conferences.
