NHS Education for Scotland (NES), in partnership with NHS boards, offers supernumerary training opportunities to high quality science graduates who are passionate about science and ts role in modern healthcare. Our scientific staff have a leading role in improving patient care by undertaking complex investigations, clinical interpretation, research & innovation, and problem solving at the technical-clinical interface.
As part of our healthcare science team, you will join a fixed-term training programme as an NHS GGC employee, but your training may rotate through different centres around Scotland. Your training will lead towards registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Clinical Scientist, aligned with the framework for UK-wide modernising scientific careers. Funding for postgraduate training and course fees will be provided. Current salary scale for supernumerary trainee Clinical Scientist posts is AfC band 6.
Applications are invited from candidates with a first or upper second class honours degree in biochemistry or a relevant scientific area. Trainees will have a contract of employment for 37 hours/week starting on 1st September 2025.There will be one post based NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.
