Job Title:Consulting Systems Engineer (CSE) – Data Centre Compute and Storage

Position Overview:
This role is for a Consulting Systems Engineer (CSE) role, with a focus on industry vertical use cases and customer-side understanding. The ideal candidate will contribute to the sales cycle based on industry experience, and assist in driving gross profit by positioning WWT's horizontal solutions within vertical markets. This includes a strong emphasis on AI, private cloud, and data centre solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership:Serve as the technical advisor for accounts and customers, taking ownership of the technical agenda and ensuring alignment with customer business objectives.
  • Solution Design and Architecture:Lead the design and architecture of IT infrastructure, focusing on data centre compute and storage solutions that meet performance, scalability, and security requirements.
  • Vertical Market Engagement:Develop deep relationships within key industry verticals (e.g., Finance, Manufacturing, Pharmaceuticals) to tailor WWT’s solutions to specific customer needs.
  • Customer Engagement:Gain trusted advisor status with clients and prospects, understanding their issues, needs, and projects while positioning WWT’s value effectively.
  • Sales Enablement:Collaborate with account teams and WWT internal groups to create plans and strategies that drive revenue through education and solution positioning.
  • OEM and Partner Collaboration:Own critical engagements with OEMs and key partners, ensuring strong alignment in areas such as AI, compute, storage, and software.
  • Technology and Industry Awareness:Stay current with vertical market trends, emerging technologies, and industry best practices, creating a body of work that educates both clients and internal teams.
  • Technical Quote Support:Producing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and recognise opportunities to scope and price professional services engagements.
  • Travel:Ability to travel within and outside the UK as required to meet business and customer needs.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:Demonstrable experience in pre-sales, technical consulting, and customer-facing roles, with a proven track record of solutions selling and consulting.
  • Technical Expertise:Strong pre-sales technical skills and hands-on experience in:
    • Data centre infrastructure (Compute, Storage, Network)
    • Virtualisation and Software-Defined Technologies
    • Cloud Technologies and DevOps
    • Core and Edge Networking
    • Enterprise Security/Cyber Security
    • IT/OT Environments
    • AI Awareness
  • Certifications:High-level technical accreditations with major vendors such as Cisco, VMware, Dell EMC, HPE, NetApp, and NVIDIA.
  • Industry Experience:10-15 years of industry experience in client-side senior roles or within technology integrators or manufacturers, with expertise in applications, infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud, and networking.
  • Consultative Skills:Demonstrable consultative technical selling skills, with the ability to rapidly understand customer business problems and propose technology-based solutions.
  • Communication Skills:Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to engage with senior customer stakeholders, including C-level executives.
  • Education:Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
