As a forward-thinking, mission-driven company, we are pioneering this exciting space, and are now looking for a Chief Scientist to lead our scientific and technical efforts.

The Chief Scientist at Penmayn will be responsible for driving the scientific vision behind our products. Your role will focus on leading research, development, and production strategies to innovate and optimise our product offerings. You’ll work closely with teams across the industry, collaborating with engineers, researchers, and production staff, all while ensuring our products remain aligned with regulatory standards and consumer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of new nutricosmetic and nutraceutical products using seaweed-derived ingredients, ensuring scientific integrity and market relevance.
  • Identify opportunities for product and process improvements, staying ahead of trends and emerging technologies in the industry.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new processes, optimising for both efficacy and scalability.
  • Inspire and guide a growing scientific team, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and growth.
  • Liaise with engineering, production, and marketing teams to bring scientific insight into business decisions.
  • Ensure a smooth transition from research to production, overseeing the scaling of processes and technologies.

Compliance & Data Management:

  • Ensure all products and processes comply with industry standards and regulations.
  • Oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting to measure the success and feasibility of new developments.
  • Manage intellectual property, including patent applications and protecting Penmayn’s innovations.

Process Optimisation:

  • Lead the development of new production processes, or modify existing ones, to increase efficiency and sustainability.
  • Test and implement new equipment, ensuring production aligns with scientific research and market needs.

Qualifications

  • PhD or Master’s degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Biochemistry, Cosmetic Science, Nutritional Science, or related).
  • 5+ years of experience in a scientific leadership role ideally within the nutricosmetic industry. However relevant experience in nutraceutical, cosmetic, or pharmaceutical industries are also acceptable.
  • Expertise in research, formulation, and regulatory processes.
