The Opportunity

The Indirect Services Category Manager is part of the Global Procurement Team within the Supply Chain and reports to Head of Indirect Procurement. The Indirect Procurement Team is a newly created area within the Global Procurement Team. The Category Manager will be responsible for leading, creating, managing and optimising our procurement processes for Indirect Services which includes categories with a focus on Marketing, Prof. Services, Fleet, Travel and other indirect categories. This role exists to help deliver efficient business operations through procurement of relevant goods and services while enabling measurable efficiencies through a professional service provided to the rest of the organisation. Furthermore, this role requires strategic thinking, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders (internally and externally) to drive cost savings and improve supplier performance. Working closely with internal stakeholders across the business to ensure that the Indirect Services procurement strategies align with the company's objectives and regulatory requirements. It's expected that the Category Manager will lead and contribute to enhancing operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness while maintaining the highest product quality standards and compliance. Further, this role will also include working closely with the Head of Indirect Procurement to develop and implement an agreed strategic agenda for procurement.

Role Responsibility

So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied remit and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:

* Develop and implement category strategies for indirect spend areas including Marketing, Prof. Services, Fleet, Travel, etc.

* Collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify procurement needs and drive efficiency in sourcing activities

* Drive cost reduction initiatives through effective sourcing strategies and supplier negotiations

* Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and evaluate suppliers' performance and the effectiveness of the category

* Lead initiatives to improve cost-effectiveness and optimize the procurement process

* Responsible for continuously gathering Market Intelligence to ensure market competitiveness and transparency of current terms of cooperation with suppliers

* Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to enhance collaboration and performance

* Identify potential risks within the supply chain and develop mitigation strategies

* Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements in all procurement activities

* Improves value by working collaboratively with multiple internal (global) stakeholders.

The Candidate

  • Procurement professional with several years of experience operating at a global/international manufacturing organisation which has a level of medium to high level of complexity
  • Expertise in strategic sourcing of indirect materials such as Marketing Prof. Services, Fleet, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement systems and best practice e.g Working knowledge of multi-site ERP systems.
  • Experience in leading international procurement projects and building category strategies from the ground up
  • Legal & Contractual understanding.
  • Ability to review negotiate terms and conditions to mitigate legal and commercial risk.
  • Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management / Procurement or equivalent work experience.

  • Occasional global travel may be required with this role.
  • This role is based in Northwich / hybrid.
