An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Business Development Manager to join a leading global organisation in automation technology sector. This role offers the chance to drive business growth by identifying new market opportunities, engaging with new customers, and expanding product reach within the Life Science and Pharmaceutical industries.

Flexible location - Remote based role - but within easy access Motorway network to enable efficient UK wide travel.

Key Responsibilities

As a Business Development Manager, you will:

  • Work closely with the Industry Team Leader to strategically plan and target key market segments in line with company sales objectives.

  • Identify and engage significant UK market segments, ensuring alignment with global initiatives.

  • Map target segments, including end-user processes and OEM machines, supporting the company’s overall strategy.

  • Collaborate with global teams to share insights, challenges, and successes.

  • Research and recommend relevant industry exhibitions, events, and publications to enhance brand presence.

  • Track and report on large business opportunities, ensuring effective pipeline management.

  • Promote relevant products and applications specific to the Life Science and Pharmaceutical industries.

  • Identify key customers, OEMs, and end users requiring targeted sales activity.

  • Drive new product developments based on market demand and customer requirements.

  • Develop and maintain a 5-year sales plan, tracking market trends and actual performance.

  • Support and mentor the salesforce through joint visits to industry accounts.

  • Maintain accurate records and submit timely reports on sales and marketing activities.

    Product Promotion

  • Actively promote market-specific products through sales demonstrations, joint visits, and targeted marketing materials.

  • Identify significant demand for bespoke solutions within the target market.

  • Monitor competitors and provide insights into market trends.

  • Drive the launch and promotion of new products within the salesforce and marketplace.

  • Maintain up-to-date customer records in the CRM system and provide regular activity reports.

    Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in the Life Science and Pharmaceutical industries.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Solid commercial acumen and business development expertise.

  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Eligibility to work in the UK and ability to travel internationally as required.

    Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Degree-level education or equivalent.

  • Previous experience in business development roles.

  • Experience presenting at industry exhibitions.

  • Ability to create white papers and technical articles.
