The Role

We’re looking forBiomedical Scientiststo join our histology laboratory team in Huntingdon. Reporting to a Senior Biomedical Scientist, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality histopathology services, supporting both clinical and research efforts.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform technical work for clinical and research services.
  • Prepare and dissect clinical specimens following Royal College of Pathologists guidelines.
  • Conduct routine diagnostic histology: embedding, microtomy, staining, immunohistochemistry, and quality control.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot lab instruments.
  • Train colleagues in histology procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 15189, HCPC standards, and the Human Tissue Act.
  • Accurately enter and manage patient data in LIMS.
  • Participate in out-of-hours services for urgent biopsies.


What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • BSc in a biological discipline.
  • HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
  • Experience in a pathology lab and histopathology techniques.
  • Strong histology bench skills and lab record-keeping.
  • Familiarity with ISO 15189 standards and health & safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience with digital pathology.
