🔍Job Summary:

We are seeking ahighly skilled Locum Specialist Biomedical Scientistto join the Blood Sciences team at [Insert Trust Name]. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to apply their specialist knowledge in a fast-paced, supportive, and quality-driven environment.

The successful applicant will work across various Trust sites as required, processing and analysing biomedical specimens, supervising junior colleagues, and delivering vital services that support clinical decision-making and patient care.


🧬Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform and validate a range of specialist investigations in Blood Sciences
  • Interpret, analyse and report test results, escalating abnormalities as required
  • Maintain and calibrate specialist laboratory equipment
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff; deliver training as required
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs, Quality Assurance and Health & Safety protocols
  • Participate in the 24/7 shift system including lone working and on-call support
  • Contribute to service improvements, audits, R&D, and training programmes


🧠Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • HCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist
  • Relevant BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent
  • Specialist knowledge and post-registration experience in Blood Sciences
  • Competency in handling complex laboratory equipment and data systems (e.g., LIMS)
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and organisational skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
