The ideal candidate will possess a strong biomedical background and a passion for translating scientific knowledge into practical applications for the beauty and wellness industry. You will play a crucial role in shaping our product development pipeline by establishing robust scientific foundations for our skin concern assessments and product claims.

Haut.AI is an Estonian startup developing SaaS platform that automates the collection of
high-quality skin data and helps skincare brands build interactive product
recommendations on e-commerce platforms. Our developments are based on the
state-of-the-art algorithms of computer vision and machine learning. We are supplying our
SaaS to brands across multiple markets in the EU, North America, and South-East Asia.
Among our clients are Unilever, Beiersdorf, Amway, Almirall.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and Standardize Skin Assessment Protocols: Design, prepare, and refine comprehensive manuals and clear, objective grading scales for the assessment of various skin concerns. This will involve in-depth research into dermatological and cosmetic science literature.
Lead Labelling Validation Efforts: Ensure the accuracy, scientific validity, and regulatory compliance of all product labelling, including ingredient lists, benefit claims, and usage instructions.
Coordinate Annotation Process: Orchestrate and manage the annotation process with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and dermatologists to ensure high-quality, scientifically sound data for our skin assessment models.
Conduct In-depth Literature Reviews: Systematically search, collate, and synthesize scientific literature on skin biology, cosmetic ingredients, skin conditions, and relevant technologies to support research and development activities.
Contribute to Academic Writing: Prepare and contribute to papers, research summaries, and peer-reviewed publications to disseminate key findings and establish our company's scientific credibility.
Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work closely with our product development, data science, and marketing teams, effectively communicating complex scientific concepts to non-scientific audiences.
Drive Innovation: Actively contribute to brainstorming sessions, proposing novel approaches to skin assessment, product formulation, and efficacy testing.
Stay Abreast of Scientific Advancements: Maintain a keen awareness of emerging research, new technologies, and evolving regulatory landscapes within the biomedical and cosmetic science fields.
Qualifications and Skills:
Master's degree or PhD in Biomedical Science (Biophysics, Physiology, Molecular Biology, etc), Biology, Dermatology, Pharmaceutical Science, or a closely related field.
Proven experience in conducting literature reviews and synthesizing scientific information.
Strong understanding of skin physiology, common skin concerns, and cosmetic ingredient functions.
Experience in developing or utilizing grading scales or assessment methodologies in a biological or clinical context is highly desirable.
Familiarity with cosmetic regulations and labelling requirements would be a significant advantage.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex scientific ideas clearly and concisely.
Demonstrable ability to think critically and innovatively.
A proactive and collaborative mindset, with a readiness to thrive in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary startup environment.
Basic academic writing skills are essential.
