Job summary

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that contracts are in place with the Pathology Provider and external parties to support the provision of pathology service on all Trust & CCG sites whilst evaluating and drafting proposed amendments to the current contracts as required.

The post holder would need to provide management leadership in supporting the PBU's contribution to the Clinical Divisions, Trust agenda and CCG Plan within the clinical and corporate governance frameworks of the Trust.

The pathology services include Diagnostic Haematology, Clinical Biochemistry, Histopathology, and Point of Care testing, Immunology and Phlebotomy, Virology and Microbiology services. Across the sites, these contracts are in excess of £40 million and employ over 500 staff.

Main duties of the job

o Significant management Experience of leading on contracting and performance A minimum of 5 years' experience in managing Experience in working effectively in a multi-professional environment and leading multi-disciplinary Proven experience of working effectively across organisational Research and Development management Leading negotiations in a highly complex and sensitive commercial environment, often where information is contentious and able to use influencing skills to persuade leaders and senior staff of the benefits of proposals for Significant experience (either NHS or Independent) at a senior manager level, including previous demonstrable experience of contract monitoring and performance management.

Education and qualifications

Essential

Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area. Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master's level equivalent. Evidence of continuing professional development Excellent numeracy, literacy and IT skills.
