We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals to join our friendly team of Clinical Pharmacy Technicians at Heartlands Hospital.
In this role, you will play a crucial part in delivering a high-quality medicines optimisation services, ensuring the safe and effective use of medication for patients. You will work closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to support patient care, enhance medication safety, and improve service efficiency within the hospital's cardiology department.
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to assessing and managing medication supplies, providing guidance to patients on their prescriptions, supporting clinical teams, and contributing to medicines management within the cardiology department. You will also have opportunities to engage in training, mentoring, and service development projects. In addition, you will also support the main pharmacy dispensary team.
We are looking for a registered pharmacy technician (GPhC) with relevant experience in a hospital or clinical setting, strong organisational skills, and a passion for patient-centred care. Main duties of the job

With a patient-focused approach, you will:

• Support the pharmacy department in the provision of complete pharmaceutical care to patients.
  
• Deliver a high-quality ward-based medicines optimisation service to the cardiology department at Heartlands Hospital.
  
• Act as a role model and provide training and mentoring to junior staff members.
  
• Support the main pharmacy dispensary where required.
  
• Carry out accuracy checking commitments.
  Key Person Specification Requirements:
  
• A nationally recognised pharmacy technician qualification and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  
• Currently practicing as a registered pharmacy technician with at least one year's post-qualification experience
  
• A nationally recognised accredited accuracy checking qualification.
  
• A professional attitude with the ability to motivate self and others.
  
• The ability to remain calm under pressure.
  
• A flexible approach and commitment to accommodate the needs of the service.
  
• A strong attention to detail.
  
• Experience working as a clinical pharmacy technician or similar capacity. Experience within cardiology is preferrable.
  This post offers in-service development training and the opportunity to gain valuable skills in a clinical role. A requirement to participate in evenings, weekends, and bank holidays on a rotational basis will be necessary.

  Qualifications
  
  *GCSEs -- Mathematics and English (Grade B/5) and four other subjects including Science (Grade C/4)
  Or
  *GCSEs: Mathematics, English and Science (Grade C/4 or equivalent) and two other GCSEs (Grade C/4) and successful achievement of the pharmacy service skills Level 2 NVQ qualification (or equivalent)
  Or
  *Three A levels, one of which is a relevant science subject and Mathematics B/5 (GCSE or equivalent)
  Or
  *Degree in science or humanities and Mathematics B/5 (GCSE or equivalent)
  *Level 3 Diploma in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians
  Or
  *BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science and Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills
  or equivalent as defined by the General Pharmaceutical Council
  *Dispensing Accuracy Accreditation, West Midland's scheme or equivalent
  *Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  *Professional Registration with the GPhC
  Experience
  
  *Two years' work experience in Pharmacy pre-qualification
  *Currently practicing as a band 4 pharmacy technician / equivalent or above with post-qualification experience within an acute setting
  *The ability to demonstrate the equivalent level of knowledge and the relevant practical experience for the post
  *Significant experience within a pharmacy setting
