Requirements:

PhD in synthetic organic chemistry preferred. 1- 2 years post-doctoral experience in industry or academia. Evidence of strong academic or industrial laboratory experience with at least 3 to 5 years’ industrial experience. Proven track record of devising and delivering API synthesis projects under GxP regulations. Extensive knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry theory and techniques. Knowledge of Process Chemistry fundamental. Excellent communication skills. Previous line management experience desirable but not essential

Key roles and responsibilities:

Mentoring a small team of Process Chemists. Participating in relationships with clients, providing regular updates on project progress, hosting client visits, addressing technical queries and delivering client project requirements. Providing solutions for complex chemical problems by demonstrating expertise in the core Process Chemistry skills, required to support development and scale up of chemical processes for introduction into the Pilot Plant. Actively participating in the development of new technologies or methodologies. Collaborating with cross-functional project groups and clients to ensure that scientific work is appropriately documented

Pharmaron acquired the Hoddesdon campus, consisting of several purpose built scientific and administrative buildings together with a purpose built conference area in February 2017. The research building has more than 5,000m2 of premier R&D space and houses an established Process Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry and Drug Discovery teams. In addition, a Formulation Development team was also recently established. The Hoddesdon site has state-of-the-art Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standard facilities for the development of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), Formulation Development (FD) and Process Chemistry (PC).
