About Us

The Department of Greek and Latin at UCL is one of the premier Classics departments in the world. It consists of almost twenty academic, teaching and research staff, 150–200 undergraduate students, about 50 postgraduate students (taught and research) as well as a number of affiliate students from outside the UK.

The Department offers one main BA degree programme that has three different pathways for students to choose from; and it offers five additional joint undergraduate programmes and two MA programmes, most of which are interdisciplinary and shared across a number of UCL departments.

About The Role

To teach the modules listed below, i.e. to provide lectures, seminars, classes and advisory services for undergraduate students as necessary. (Teaching is organized across two ten-week terms in the autmn and spring; these terms have mid-point Reading Weeks. The examination period will be in term three, from the final week of April to the first week of June 2026.)

To provide personal tutoring for undergraduate students.

About You

You should have completed a PhD or working towards a PhD in a relevant area and have the ability to teach students to a high academic standard. In addition to this, you should have excellent communication skills, be able to work well independently and as part of a team and be flexible and responsive, particularly to the changing education environment.
