Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) is a private R1 Research University in Central Massachusetts known for its inclusive and innovative approaches to teaching and multidisciplinary research. WPI’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry seeks a tenure-track assistant professor in synthetic chemistry with the vision and creativity to transform bold ideas into breakthroughs that tackle some of the world’s most urgent scientific challenges—advancing human health, driving sustainable technologies, and uncovering new frontiers in biochemical innovation. Possible directions include but are not limited to the design of precision molecular probes to illuminate biological systems in unprecedented detail, creation of next-generation therapeutics to combat disease, chemical reprogramming of biomolecules, engineering of plant- or fungi-derived pathways to access novel molecular scaffolds, and development of bio-inspired materials. JOB DESCRIPTION

The successful candidate will establish an ambitious, externally funded research program, provide inspiring teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, contribute to WPI’s signature project-based curriculum, and participate in the collaborative environment that defines research at WPI.
