Creating a spacefor discovery without boundaries helps us to turn our science intobenefits for human health and the economy. /n/n About the role…/n/n The Genetic Modification Services (GeMS) provide a breadth ofspecialist skills and resources for the design, creation,production, storage and use of genetically altered animals,germplasms and cell lines together with ancillary techniques. /n/nThe post-holder will join the genetic modification team and assistin the design and generation of molecular reagents used in both invivo and in vitro genetic engineering experiments for thegeneration of animal and disease models and the subsequent geneticvalidation of the resulting mutant strains. /n/n If you have adegree in a biological subject and have experience in a molecularbiology, mammalian cell culture and CRISPR-Cas9, this could be aperfect opportunity for you to join the team. /n/n You willparticipate in the creation of new animal models, taking a leadrole towards the development of a subset of projects. As such, youwill be expected to develop a detailed understanding of geneticmodification and mouse genetics and will be expected to followbreeding progress ensuring that the 3R’s principles for in vivoresearch (replacement, reduction and refinement) underpins all workthat is undertaken. /n/n What you will be doing /n/n As a BRF GeMSResearch Scientist at the Crick, you will: /n/n /n/t - Assist inthe design, generation of reagents and validation of newgenetically modified alleles. /n/t - Perform core molecular biologytechniques including LR-PCR, PCR, digital droplet or qPCR,molecular cloning, NGS sequencing technologies, genotyping andsequence analysis. /n/t - Maintenance of mESC cultures and performin vitro CRISPR facilitated and classical gene targeting experimentusing electroporation, nucleofection and lipofection.
