Senior Protein Scientist

The Company

SRG are delighted to be working with one of the UK's most recognisable scientific brands who are growing out their CRO and drug discovery capability in Glasgow. This organisation are at the forefront of drug discovery in the cancer therapy field and are looking to grow out their therapeutic innovation team by adding an experienced protein scientist to assist on a number of drug discovery programmes.

The Role

As Senior Protein scientist you will be responsible for the expression and purification of a wide range of recombinant proteins using both bacterial and insect systems. You will ensure all protein production is appropriately quality checked using biochemical and biophysical techniques.

You will also collaborate and communicate with key stakeholders to provide technical support on a variety of drug discovery programmes, assisting in process development and establishment - working alongside the wider protein production team.

The Right Person

• PhD (or similar experience) in a relevant topic (protein science, chemistry, biochemistry, etc)
• Relevant experience in a drug discovery environment is highly desirable
• Demonstrable experience producing, purifying and analysing proteins using tools and techniques such as PCR, AKTA, SDS-PAGE, Western Blotting, etc.
• Experience of tissue culture and transgenic cell line generation
• Project management experience
• Prior experience in a drug discovery environment is highly desirable
• Experience expressing proteins using insect systems is highly desirable
