Introduction to role:

Are you ready to steer financial strategy that expands patient access and accelerates sustainable growth across the UK and Ireland? This role places you at the heart of decisions that shape launch readiness, pricing, and access—translating insight into action for medicines that change lives.

Reporting to the Head of Finance & Commercial Operations, you will serve as the finance lead for a designated disease area with full P&L responsibility across in-line and pipeline assets. Your analysis, modelling and influence will guide cross-functional teams through strategic choices and investment decisions. Can you see yourself turning complex data into clear direction that helps therapies reach under-served patients sooner?

You will work closely with Commercial, Medical, Market Access, GFS, Controlling, EUCAN and Global Finance partners to align priorities and deliver measurable outcomes. This role is office-based in London with a minimum of 60% office attendance; travel is limited, primarily within the UK with occasional international exposure.

Accountabilities:

Strategic financial leadership and business partnering:

- Full P&L ownership for a designated disease area across the UK & Ireland, spanning in-line and pipeline assets, driving revenue, expense and contribution objectives.

- Partner disease area leadership to evaluate strategic choices and shape the disease strategic plan, launch readiness and loss-of-exclusivity scenarios.

- Lead financial modelling and scenario analysis for pricing, reimbursement and access business cases with Market Access and cross-functional stakeholders, producing robust recommendations.

- Represent Finance in senior forums; act as the primary interface between local, EUCAN and Global Finance to align priorities and investment decisions that enable scale and speed.

Forecasting, planning & analysis and performance management:

- Lead strategic plans, annual budgets and monthly forecasts in line with regional and corporate standards and timelines.

- Apply AI and advanced analytics to strengthen forecasting, scenario modelling, variance analysis and performance insights.

- Lead business performance reviews with franchise and leadership teams; identify risks and opportunities and drive actions to deliver disease-area goals.

- Ensure disciplined OPEX and investment deployment so resources align to strategic priorities and value delivery.

- Provide monthly financial reporting and clear commentary to local, EUCAN and International stakeholders, translating analysis into actionable recommendations.

Financial governance, controls and capability enablement:

- Ensure financial integrity through robust month-end close, accurate reporting and compliance with Alexion accounting policies and internal controls, in close collaboration with GFS and Controlling.

- Act as a role model for finance business partnering by building financial acumen across the disease team through coaching, training and day-to-day decision support.

- Support the Head of Finance on ad-hoc projects and initiatives to strengthen control, capability and performance.

Essential Skills/Experience:

- Significant post-qualification experience in finance (FP&A, business partnering or controlling)

- Experience working in complex, matrix organisations

- Proven track record in financial planning, forecasting and performance management

- Strong experience partnering senior stakeholders and influencing decisions

- Exposure to regional and global finance environments

- Outstanding analytical skills with ability to connect data to business decisions

- Strong business partnering and stakeholder influencing skills

- AI and advanced analytics fluency with ability to translate insights into action

- Proactive, curious and solutions-oriented mindset

- Ability to challenge constructively and drive continuous improvement

- Pharma/biotech experience, particularly in disease-area or franchise models

- Experience supporting pricing, reimbursement and access business cases

- Understanding of UK & Ireland healthcare and reimbursement landscape

- Experience with financial planning, analytics or visualisation tools
